It is very good that you ask the topics of interest to us for training. I want to offer you a different format. Often we are faced with constructions that disorientate us. For example, when we meet WOULD, SHOULD, HAVE, BEEN. We understand that these words are often components of complex structures. Therefore, when we see them together or one by one, we immediately experience difficulty. Therefore, make lessons where you tell about all the cases, where and when we can meet these words. Separately about each word! Even if they are used in those constructions that you talked about in relation to another of these words.

If it weren't for your meticulous preparation, I wouldn't be able to grasp the main concept of Mixed Conditionals. I have finally figured it out. If it weren't for you, I would never figured it out. Your explanations are on fleek. Though I have some questions about this lesson and I will address you next time. I appreciate that. You are a devoted and an incredible English teacher. Though I wonder if you weren't be an English teacher, you would become a nutritionist. I thought you would be a dancer, if you weren't be an English teacher and if you had applied for Acting in Hollywood, you would be a famous Hollywood celebrity now because I have been watching you for a long time and you have a charisma to grasp the attention and you film well. I will watch this video again to make sure I got all this stuff right and to the point . So keep up the great work. You rock! Thumbs up! Cheers!

Dear Arnel, I need your help: I often hear people use "would" in the if clause, which I think can be used for politeness, but I am dying to know if they are making a mistake in other instances. In other words, except for politeness (if this is really a thing?) are there any other cases where one can use "would" in the if clause? I have heard such formulations so often from people that I deemed great speakers that it's making me doubt everything I thought I knew... Please help me Arnel. : )

Sentences of the type around 18:00-18:30 can be paraphrased by "if it is the case that xxx, then I say yyy", e.g. "if it's the case that you liked it, then my question is: why didn't you buy it?". The main clause is expressed on condition that the if-clause obtains. If it doesn't obtain, expressing the main clause is irrelevant. Another example of this type is "if you are thirsty, there's coke in the fridge". The coke is there regardless of whether people are thirsty or not, but 'if' is used to signal "I'm telling you that there's coke in case you are thirsty. If you aren't, you can ignore the main clause, because then it's not relevant to you." So such sentences can be seen as conditional, but the condition is on a different level than the other types in this video. Just a way of seeing these apparently non-conditional if-clauses, please let me know what you think.

@@HxTurtle I just gave an example of TO BE and TO HAVE BEEN being used in a sentence but for your information, the example I made is not particularly wrong either. 'The trash is to be thrown away' is the formal term for 'the trash is going to be thrown away'. If you don't believe it, you can watch that lesson in one of Arnel's uploaded videos. Just search for be + to + bare infinitive. And you're wrong when you said that it was still the same because they are literally not. Grasp this example for you to further spot my point - 'I feel so happy to see you dancing on the stage.' and 'I feel so happy to have seen you dancing on the stage.' Not the thing you're pointing out, right? I hope you finally got my point.

hi Arnel, a top-notch lesson indeed 👍. Just one question about the unofficial mixed conditional example: was it a typo in the example starting "If you want to paint your kitchen, l would..." Instead should it be "If I want to paint my kitchen...." ?

I was nearly crying when you told us if it weren't for the supportive comunity....I would not have have overcome the challenges. lol.. As usual good job. It is true, when we speak sometimes "borrowing " odd "made by ourselves " conditionals.

Hi Arnel, how's it going ?. You know Arnel that expression sounds a little weird to me 'cause in the example of the video the guy said: "If it weren't for this man, I'd be standing here dead". It sounds strange to me because; "If he were dead, he couldn't stand", I mean, to me the correct expression would be: - If it weren't for this man, I'd be dead. Or. - If it weren't for this man, I wouldn't be standing here. # Well, this is my point of view Arnel BUT I know I can be wrong and if I do, would you be so kind to explain it to me (us) please. ?. Thank you very much in advance for the answer and the video lesson Arnel 👍.

Oh yes, I see what you mean. It was a joke and I should have explained that in my lesson. When we are dead we obviously can't stand, so the joke is he would still be standing, but dead. I hope this clarifies things? :) *Your two examples are perfectly correct, though.
