Let's not forget that the man the Inspired I will say 99% of the people from the Golden Era was Steve Reeves! Then next was Joe Weider with Dave Draper who was station in Union City, NJ before relocating to Woodland Hills, CA with his ads (14 pounds in 14 Days) in comic books and Muscle Builder Magazines. Then came Pumping Iron which most of the general public did not watched it until many years later. I think what really gave it a boost was the actual contest in Pretoria South Africa - 1975 Mr. Olympia but before that in Verona, Italy the 1974 the Mr. Universe contest on ABC Wide World Of Sports with Lou Ferrigno winning and that was a full coverage! Also don't forget that Ferrigno did the Battle of the Network Stars and the Superstars on ABC which he was introduced as Mr. Universe Bodybuilder and off course the Incredible Hulk with 80 episodes. So I think Lou did more than Arnold in the 70's because he was on mainstream TV constantly! - Arnold did great with Conan but at the same time he did a big disservice when ABC TV decided not to air the 1980 Olympia because they realize that it was fixed, They also did not cover the 1981 Olympia even though they payed the IFBB to film it. Joe Weider with Arnold did promoted Bodybuilding but they also did some damaged. - I hate to be a little controversial but it is my personal opinion.

Arnold changed the world. Bodybuilding (weight training) went worldwide because of him. Trillions of dollars created because of him. We went from two Cinder Block gyms per city to hotels better equipped than Golds because of Arnold. Think about that.

Great snippet here! Arnold was a fantastic businessman on top of one of the greatest of all time. He definitely was inspired by Reeves to go out there and get after it.

Arnold springboarded bodybuilding for himself and the public popularity as he gradually transcended almost every avenue and venue of opportunity he pursued while inspiring all of us to do better, despite his flaws and not quite being the "Donald" in hosting "The Apprentice". If he were born here he would have run for President. And likely would win!
