Love this Arnold. I suggest waiting until someone is done with their set before asking if you can work in. I also always ask how many sets they have left.

Your comments about being kind and considerate ring true. It reminds me of a post it my husband kept on his desk, where he’d see it every time he sat down to work. The post it said : Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always. The work you’re doing with the positive corner of the internet is helping individual people, our country and the world. It’s just what we need now. Thank you and keep up the great work. God bless.

Thank you for this video, Arnold ❤ I have to say that I really feel good and well at my gym. I like that I never experienced one human that was more watching the other people (or even laughing at them) than to train. Yesterday I tried some machines that I never worked out before. Maybe also why they aren't "made for girls" 🤮 and no one ever showed them to me. So, I really tried to find out by myself, but I wasn't able to get it. Then I remembered what you always tell us about the gym people and their community. And this big nice guy told me kindly what I have to do at the Bizeps machine. I was so happy about that. 😊❤ Be kind. Be useful. Thank you, Arnold.

Arnold, you should come to my gym. I just started at a Crunch location in NJ and none of the dumbbells are in the right spot. If I pick up set from the wrong spot, I make sure I find where they go when I'm done. The rack is clearly labeled for where they should go.

@giggles23024 ай бұрын
Another good idea is to bring a sweat towel and clean up any sweat you might leave on the equipment cz eww, lol. Also, putting weights back is important cz you don't want anyone tripping over them. There is iron equipment everywhere, and they could trip and fall on some iron and get really hurt. Safety and courtesy. :)

You inspire me to go to my gym (which is indoors - lucky you to live near Santa Monica!) and see if I can develop a community of supporting people in their work out. Right now everybody does their own thing, no one talks to anybody which is ok and respectful but it's kind of depressing.
@cragwandering16 ай бұрын
Arnold: WE NEED A POSTER WITH THESE 3 RULES TO PUT UP IN THE GYM ! If I print it up; I'm an old cranky dude--if you do it--it is cool and considerate. Make it an ad for the Pump Club! Another consideration is if you are trying to do a 'circuit workout' at higher heart rate and pace; people hogging stations make these workouts very difficult to impossible. It is really just common courtesy. I actually printed out labels for all Olympic plate racks to help people understand that a 45 pound plate goes on a 45 pound rack, 10 pound plate goes on 10 pound rack, etc.

I mean, we also need to get out of our comfort zones a bit and just kindly ask "Hey, can I go inbetween while you are on your phone?". By being kind to each other we both make social connections for life and help remind folks about etiquette in a way that isn't going to be confrontational or hurtful. As we all forget the rules sometimes, it happens. :) .

We have men, usually old, come up to us in the gym and try to push us off the machines, while we are actively using them. We tell them “we are almost finished, last set”. They get so angry. There are so many other machines to choose from and we are not wasting time. Women have every right to take up space at the gym. Let the men know this please.

None of the gyms I've ever been to have felt like communities, even ones I've gone to consistently for years. There's a bit more community feeling if we do a class together, but mostly people on machines or doing free weights ignore each other and do their thing and leave

At one time I was on a bench press and I had to find some more plates and some lady came and took a plate off my barbell and I didn't think anything of it and I just let it go but then right after that some other guy came and took a plate off of my barbell. I said hey I was using that. And he said he didn't know but there's like a hundred of them so it doesn't matter! And I'm thinking well if there's a hundred of them then why take the one that's on my barbell? It was a little weird to me like they were trying to get inside my head or something maybe it was just bad spirits telling them to do it. I don't know
@RayBrennan6 ай бұрын
This is sooooooo needed. Bunnies sitting on a machine feeling sorry for themselves after doing a set is a constant headache. 20 seconds of reps and 3 minutes of feeling sorry for themselves between the sets. One time a guy asked me "how many sets do you have left?" I said "do you wanna use the machine?" He was like "yeah after you're done", I'm like "No, you use it now while I rest." We got 3 men on this machine and it never stopped moving while the other two rested. No we need to address the use of using cameras by tiktokers to entrap males who are just looking around at nothing in particular.
@SerPostman6 ай бұрын
Try to not make this about women. There's plenty of blokes around who think the bench press rack is a great place for posting some ridiculous video on tiktok.

Yeah it's kind of annoying when you're sitting there waiting for the bench and then someone sitting at texting on it just looking at their phone not doing anything. However bedtime is what I'm trying to do a super set or Progressive set or something and I have three sets of dumbbells and I have some guy comes over and throws a little fit because I have a few sets of dumbbells. But I'm only going to have them for less than 2 minutes then I'm going to put them back. And he doesn't even need to use them he's just throwing a fit. It's like mind your own business

Good points, but wait until the person has finished their set before you ask if you can work in with them. Otherwise you break their focus, which is very rude.

Why did he get so mad? LOL I don't work in because I don't take many breaks when I'm doing something. I usually them typically doing 15 then 12 then 8 reps it's like a 60-second break then I'll go back to 8 reps and then 12 reps and then 15 reps. So I'll tell them I'll be done in like a minute or two

Yo Everyone bitching about cell phone use - I need my phone for The Pump app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes the app says to rest TWO minutes between the sets. So I'm sitting at the machine for two minutes WITH MY PHONE entering the REPS and WEIGHT into the THE PUMP APP while I am resting. DUH. And like someone said below, after the rest, you need to go right back into the next set. No time to wait for someone to rotate in and change the weight. They'd have to be good friends with you to know how it works and make it work, kinda like how everyone knows Ahnold and kisses his butt.

I always took my phone on the machines because I was resting. So you recommend to leave the machine? While I am in rest? And then a other guy came to use my machine, alter the weights, use it longer than my rest time is, and my rest time is messed up… I feel not comfortable with leaving the machine while resting..

You're not using the machine if you're resting, get off and let other people use it. Stand by it and let them know you are using it, but don't occupy it when you aren't using it. Using a phone for anything but music or work out videos isn't good
