Mr. Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) stands up to an abusive father, delivering justice in his own unconventional way.
Kindergarten Cop (1990): Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as an undercover cop posing as a kindergarten teacher in order to catch a dangerous criminal. interesting just how much acting classes can improve someone's acting, a lot of people take good actors for granted, like it's just a natural part of them, like a talent, but Arnold does have some genuine Acting gigs that show just how much he improved after working so hard for it a shame it cant take his accent away tho ahha

@@ScottPittman-jc7phdf has it right. I worked in a school for years, standardized expectations and such have scared every educator into a corner, combine that with the inability to be honest about shitty parenting with parents and you have a generation of kids with depression and social anxiety on top of underfunded schools. There is a certain political party that wants to even abolish public education itself so only rich kids can get an education, and they've been doing a masterful job of lying to the public, blaming staff while quietly gutting funding and giving the savings to their friends through military contracting and other means. We cannot stand by and do nothing.

A great fun fact, it was Arnold’s idea to include the abuse subplot. He thought it gave the film more depth & he was completely right. He did this movie because he wanted to play a more serious role. For every kid out there that had a physically abusive father, this scene somehow hits hard. Not so much because of the abusive father getting his comeuppance. But seeing a traditional hero in Schwarzenegger standing up for the helpless and self-blaming kid. Coming from a similar situation, scenes like this reminded me that good and responsible men exist, even if it is only a movie. It sounds sad, but I never knew any good guys in real life back then. I was raised by movie heroes, and I wished every heroic leading man was my father 😅

I went to see this with my grandmother (she was a HUGE Arnie fan). She was a middle school English teacher for 40 year, teaching all through desegregation. Besides her kids, that was the thing she was the most proud of. During this scene I looked over and realized she was crying. She told me later that she had no idea how many times she had wanted to knock a parent out to protect one of her kids who were being abused. Back then the school wouldn’t get involved. She talked about “Mr. Kimble” punching that guy for a month. She also told me that if I were ever in a position to help a kid in a situation like that, to do it, regardless of the consequences. Years later I was a paramedic on a SAAFR Team (Sexual Assault and Abuse Fast Response Team). I almost was let go because I came across a guy who was sexually abusing his girl friends 5 year old daughter. As I was about to pick the little girl up and carry her out of the house the guy said, “she wanted it. She begged me to do it.” I broke a chair across his face. It took 3 cops to pull me off. I got in trouble and was suspended from the team for a month, but on the drive home all I could think of was my grandma and this scene. It’s crazy how seemingly unconnected events will trigger a memory….
