Jerry Pritchett was part of the commentary team, and he mentioned that he once opened with 960 lbs. He's one of the deadlift greats! (He did a fantastic job commentating, too!)

What is with his lifts, though? He lifts it above his knees and rests it there, then does a second separate movement to complete the lift....I really don't like that, it's not a real deadlift

Mitch Hooper's lockout is looking a LOT better than before - every day he gets more dangerous and can't wait to see him at WSM! Like even for the weights that were clearly requiring max effort his form didn't even flinch

Hooper looked really strong on these deadlifts! I was surprised Pavlo was having issues with the DL but it seemed something was wrong with his knee. Hope he didn't get injured :S Thank you for the upload Martins and Romark!

It was said that it’s likely a patella issue. They will have to get some scans but something is definitely wrong with the knee area. He pulled up lame on the frame and said the right leg isn’t working.

I guess those 972 and 974 kg deadlifts on the elephant bar will not be replicated for a long time. Thor was a monster and he even picked up the 501kg elephant bar to his knees.

I think this is the first arnold where everyone is so close in deadlift that not 1 person beats everyone by a decent margin.

Or is it that the best deadlifter would have been a long way behind the guys who used to compete. This is what I am seeing nowadays. Big Z Thor shaw were all superior to all these guys in general strength. Not to mention a bunch of guys who have deadlifted more in these competitions in the past

It's more of a strategy. One you still have other events. Two you need to jump enough in weights to fail the next lifter yet not fail yourself.

No disresepct to the boys but Thor was lifting 471 kilos in an elephant bar years ago and quite a few dudes were also going above 1000 pounds easily.

Rob have half suit. I think Hooper have briefs. This is not raw. Raw in strongman is only straps allowed and belt.

Thor war einfach ein Rindviech ganz eigener Klasse. Hoffe, dass er nach der Powerlifting Challenge wieder zumindest mal an einer ASC oder WUS teilnimmt. Dass er bei WSM nicht mehr mitmachen wird, ist ja offensichtlich ^^

Depends on the event and what they define a lift is and what's acceptable. If you want to see bigger lifts, certain techniques need to be allowed.
