These photos etc are briliant and thanks for the memories , I was Born in Bush hill park and Loved the place my Grt Granfarther started use there in approx 1885 and we ran J.TOOP and Sons Ltd removals and transport until we moved south in 1972 , but I'm very sad to say it's not the place it was but makes Your Photos even more important . Thanks for all you have done . My Kind Regards Chris Toop

Hi Chris, thanks ever so much for your kind comments. It's good to get feedback like that once in a while. I'm sure I remember seeing Toops Removals vans around Enfield in the 60's. It's not a name you can easily forget. Sadly Enfield has gone downhill since the early days but that's progress I suppose. 🤔 In case you haven't seen them, I have videos of Enfield Town kzbin.info/www/bejne/anm2aoOsfpKsqKs and Edmonton / Bush Hill Park kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJKse35jhqdkj9U which you may find interesting. Thanks again and best regards, John.

Thank you for a great piece of nostalgia. I was raised in Enfield until 1959 and now live in Burlington, Ontario. it is great to revisit the haunts of my teenage years.

Thanks for your comments +Richard Cooper. I'm really pleased it bought back some memories for you. It's changed a lot recently. You could always do a Google streetview walk around the town as it is now. Here's a link. Thanks for such a well put together video. My Gran dad bought a new house in Manorway in Bush Hill Park in 1928, and our family has lived there until 2014. Many fond memories of Enfield that will always stay with me. Remember well the Green Dragon pub ! And next to it on the right was the Green Dragon Garage which is where I had my first job in 1971.
@JohnSalmon7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment Roger, I'm pleased you enjoyed my video. Sadly the Green Dragon pub is no longer a pub. It is currently being converted into apartments. They are building more apartments in what was the car park and the ground floor of the pub is now a mini Waitrose supermarket. What a shame, it was a lovely old building and had lots of custom when it started serving Thai food.

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment, it's very kind of you. I don't know if you're local to the area, but if you are you may also enjoy Time Machines 1 and 3. It's all Enfield Town, Bush Hill Park and Edmonton. Where I was born and grew up. Thanks again.

Thanks John. I will take a look. I did indeed live in Enfield during the 70's and 80's. I have some videos on my channel of 1977 Silver Jubilee Street Parties, Halliwick Fete in Bush Hill Park and some footage around Edmonton in the 1950's in case you're interested.

Love this. Used to live Village Rd late 50s, early 60s and was devastated when the old house was sold and pulled down. Enfield was a great place to grow up for me, childhood to teens. Miss it!
@JohnSalmon6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sue. I live a stones throw from Village Road. There are still some of the grander houses left in the stretch from St Stephens to London Road but as they get sold they are replaced with blocks of expensive flats which is a shame.

Another excellent video, a brilliant may to show images of old Enfield. Any possibility at a future date of making one on a later period of 50s into 60s?

@@JohnSalmon No. I think I was just born in the wrong time. I'm just a child of the 70s. I was brought up in Enfield and my mother's side in Edmonton, my grandparents in Edmonton/Tottenham. I just wish I had been able to see it like this. Before you know...it all changed. Its just a bit melancholy isn't it.

Great video, thanks for uploading, have you any photos of Southbury Road? I thought that Trinity Church was gutted by a fire in the 1920s, as opposed to bomb damage?
@JohnSalmon9 жыл бұрын
Thanks layzfgg Trinity Church ?? Took my info from the Enfield Society here www.enfieldsociety.org.uk/photographs/displayimage.php?album=36&pid=1278. There appears to be a couple of reasons why it was damaged but I can't find out any more than that. Have nothing on Southbury Road I'm afraid.

+bmwnasher That was Sir Walter Raleigh's Cottage. If you stood on the corner of Chase Side and Gordon road (right outside the Six Bells) and look down Gordon Road, there are three shops in a small block called Raleigh Buildings Built 1887. If this link works it will show you. goo.gl/maps/wLPNk
