We took the film :) well actually my father and a friend of his, everyone is alive and kicking only the car we are driving ceased to exist which was a VW Beetle 1969 model!

Albeit not 1989 but a little over 20 years later, many of those views and roads around Sliema and Tigne are so familiar having been my regular morning walks... Sort of miss that but not the thunderous summer noise levels living just there!!!

cannot be, number plates are the pre-europe variant, which ceased to exist in 1997.

I went there in 1992 when i was 9 years old.. we stayed in apartments above "The cotton club". I've tried to find that building on Google earth/street view and i can't find the building.. I guess it's not called the cotton club anymore but i would really like to find it and go through a trip down memory lane

Enjoyed watching this. Many areas have remained the same, except for some changes in the road furniture and pavement infrastructure. The St Julian's area seems to have changed the most - places like McDonalds were obviously not yet open, but the area near Saddles is almost identical to now. As we can see, Paceville had already started developing into a nightlife centre, with Axis, Styx and the bowling place already having opened. Much of Sliema looks the same - apartments had already become numerous along the seafront. Qui-si-Sana is also very similar, especially to how it was before the recent Tigne Point developments.

Awesome video mate I stay'd with my family in St George's bay at the Villa Rosa complex in 1987 (I can remember the restaurant next to our hotel on the front there had the song The Final Countdown and Bon Jovi's Living on a prayer more or less on repeat) I'm going back to Malta next May for the first time in over 34 years but staying in Mellieha but will travel down to this area (St julians etc) to see how much it has changed!

Nice tune at the start, I think that was "Was (Not Was)" with "Out Come The Freaks", from their album "What Up, Dog?"

We are all alive and kicking :) my father was driving the car a VW Beetle 1969 model, he is almost 70 now and his friend was filming. When the movie was shot I was 11 years old and now I am 39.

Mostly peaceful. Petty theft has always been a problem but the many times I've been there nothing has happened to us. Very friendly and happy people.

Not around Malta, but around the ugliest and worst parts of Malta, Sliema, St Julians, Paceville and St Georges Bay. Today they are all dumps! Lost to progress and greed. Disgusting places. Overpopulated and over-commercialised!
