I saw a picture of this on Pinterest and the show title. So glad I was able to find a clip of that went on in 1964. I was just 5 months old then! Yikes! I saw Paul McCartney in the late ‘70s with my family as we watched the stars and famous singers walk the red carpet for the Academy awards in L.A. he waved in our direction and had a big smile. It was so cool see all the movie stars that most are long gone since. But I’ll never forget seeing Paul McCartney so close up near us and his smile. I saw the LOVE show in Las Vegas twice, a tribute to the Beatles and their songs. It was so fun and amazing. I could dee it again next time we’re in Las Vegas! 😁💖

This was broadcast 2 days after the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth, so it's not as random as it might seem. Lennon, of course, is dangerous and anarchic, Paul rather embarrassed, George unsure of himself, and Ringo quite wonderful. An innocent confection but I think this still works as entertainment, all the way to "I do like to be beside the seaside". And yet ANOTHER one of the many examples of the Beatles taking on the world and winning through on talent, brashness, wit, and charm.

I am not sure if you were just substituting "Paul" for "wall" because of your feelings for Paul (and I SHARE those with you about Paul "sweet and lovely") but if you really thought that was the line, it is actually "Oh WALL, oh sweet and lovely WALL" as John (Thisbe) beats on the wall that separates "her" from "her love" Pyramus (Paul) Wall does sound like Paul. But John was not saying Paul.

@@themoonandstars1 The tune to this song was orginally "WE LOVE YOU CONRAD" from the 1962 movie musical "BYE BYE BIRDIE" starring Ann-Margaret, Dick VanDyke, Paul Lynde, Bobby Rydell AND ED SULLIVAN ( from THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW) "Conrad Birdie" is an ELVIS type rock and roll singer in the movie.
