Travel is so expensive, so Brian Hoffman travels the world with just his Metrocard in NYC.
Each episode takes him to a different neighborhood and different country where he explores the culture and food of that place without ever leaving New York.
Brian discovers a cuisine that is less known to most Americans but is full of complex and delicate flavors. Persian (or Iranian) food should be more prevalent in New York, but can be found at an amazing steam table hidden inside a generic pizzeria and at a cultural center that serves casual Persian bites alongside tea and events.
As a note, this episode was filmed well over a year ago before the Executive Order to ban immigrants from the country of Iran. At that time, I didn't feel the need to get too political - if the video was filmed today, I would have taken a bigger stand about the importance of this culture and its gracious people here in the United States.
And since the filming of this video, Cafe Nadery has sadly succumbed to raising rents and closed. Taste of Persia remains open and is better than ever.

One of the most underrated cuisines in the world. Iranian food is divine. Went to Iran in 2017 as an Aussie tourist and was blown away by the food, culture and hospitality of Iranians. The most friendliest of any countries i have seen. Put politics aside and see it for yourself!

Den Koxh you know why Iran is such nice place for foreigners because Persians people always adore anybody I mean anybody who is not Iranian I mean a African can go to Iran and he will get top hospitality.... So good for foreigners but bad for iranians people because Iranian hate each other but love other nations

Damn politic, Persian/Iranian culture is long and had a great impact in world's history. It should be presented in a fair, unbias way.

No, I would have if I had known about the place when I was visiting NYC in January. I have yet to come across a restaurant that cooks good Persian food. Unfortunately, my countrymen cut too many corners and don't buy quality ingredients that are required for Persian cuisine. I noticed the rice looks a lot like jasmine instead of basmati which is considerably more expensive but the standard in Persian cooking. Anyway, I hope I'm wrong about Saeed's food and I'm glad you had a good experience with Persian food.

As a rule of thumb I can say, some restaurant might offer pretty good kababs, dizis and some special dishes, but best rice, stews and dishes are only made in home kitchens by ladies which learned recipes from their mother and grand mothers.

Forty years ago, the Western media has been blocking Iran's news and trying to make Iran no one in general. Of course, the people and the government in Iran are completely different. Very nice and kind people but his backward religious regime. It is better to say that the financial gain of many media outlets around the world does not cover good Iranian information.

@Mohamed Redha don't defend those wannabes, they don't deserve it. I'm not shia or persian either, but persian Muslims have greatest accomplishments in terms of culture and art and philosophy they are far more superior compared to the Zoroastrians and any non persian/ non Muslim group on the middle east. Just saying Persian Muslim have a greater influence.

the Iranian Empire dates back 14,000 years, making Iran a country of many firsts. Before Islam, the Achaemenid, Parthian, and Sassanid Empires were among the world's strongest, rivaling Greece. The people of Greece are well-informed about this, and you can also search online for more information about Iran. Algebra was developed by the Iranian scientist Khwarizmi, and the Iranian scholar Razi discovered alcohol. The most accurate calendar in the world is the Iranian solar calendar. The first charter of human rights belongs to Cyrus the Great, the king of the Achaemenid Empire, who saved the lives of the Jews. The world's first plumbing and sewage systems were in Iran. The first religion, Mithraism, originated in Iran and is linked with Christmas. Chess is from Iran, although some claim it is from India; however, Iran developed it further. Pottery was first made in Iran. Parts of Turkey, all of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, parts of Pakistan, Armenia, Georgia, and Turkmenistan were part of Iran for thousands of years. Nizami and Rumi, the Persian poets, wrote all their poems in Persian, but because they are buried in Turkey and Azerbaijan, some Turks claim them as their own. Persian was the official language of India for 300 years, and now India and Pakistan have many Persian words. The Taj Mahal was built by Iranian architects inspired by Persian architecture. Iran was a great and powerful country, but for the past 45 years, the clerics have been destroying it. It's better to verify everything I've said online to be sure and not doubt it. Even kebabs originated in Iran before spreading to Turkey and the rest of the world.

These guys are not the true persians, they migrated from Pakistan and Afghanistan not even 950 years ago to Iranian pleto. Ghorme-sabzi, Dough and so many other foods have Turkic names, they are Azerbaijani origin. These guys are not even true persians. In 1925 after discovery of oil in Iran, Brits gave them a new identity by calling them persian and sat them in there. These guys are not even natives of Iranian Pleto. These guys who are presented as persians in today's world are not the true persians.
