Probably a near impossuible looking challenge to face every morning to say the least, dealing with different cultures and languages, attitudes for and against the US and the west in general. Can't really jusdge if he is good at his job or not, or the quality of his leadership skills, but, he seems to keep things rolling along, all an average guy like me can do is hope he is doing it well.

Russia doesn’t share our values now, but back when it was the Soviet Union it *really* didn’t share our values. In 1956 the Red Army sent tanks into Budapest. That didn’t require a response from the West like we’ve seen in recent years. Same with what happened in Prague in 1968: somehow that wasn’t proof that if nothing was done, there would soon be Russian soldiers in Paris. Or how about when Russia used it’s Polish puppets to put down Soladarność in Poland in 1989? Why wasn’t that an existential threat to Amsterdam and London? This dogma that what happens in Ukraine matters to the West, and is worth hundreds of billions of our Dollars, is ridiculous. And historically ignorant.

you forgot about the budapest memoranda,i've toiled with that as well and have taken a more nuancd position which is to say that the soviet union was not operating even into the 80s that the russian federation operates in, nato and us power has changed greatly in those regions today. but the issues are numerous why russias actions in places like georgia and crimea / eastern ukraine are a threat to the west, how much money that's all worth is a different story. slava ukraina

This is very cool to me, lots of ppl are prone to accusing, misconstruing and or blaming the agency for many things. IDK I am not in the know however I know one thing for sure there are alot of ppl who do some very cool work there more importantly they keep America safe abroad and that work has got to be massive! that is no easy task to go abroad and identify threats to our peace, serenity and way of life ~ I am a fan, always have been of CIA - I Endured an absolute nightmare of a time whilst residing in NYC when during the 911 attacks occurred and subsequent years following that well all I know is men & women who work there are passionate about your freedom, mines and way of life here and they work hard to keep us safe we live in a world where I think even the good guys get a bad rep??? I am not with that. I Will always be for safety, freedom, peace and against those who threaten my country, ALWAYS. Also I have never heard or seen Director Burns conducting an interview however he comes across as an absolute intellectual, someone soft spoken yet well spoken and obviously very knowledgeable regarding world affairs now which I would expect nothing less. Wise individual.
