I need to move ASAP! I'm sitting in my neighborhood bar in NYC watching your video on my phone. My ONE glass of wine is $19. This is my second one so effectively I will spend more on 2 glasses of wine + tip, than you did on your date night. And I am STARVING!! Unbelievable....I'm afraid I may drink too much once I live there.
@DaysWeSpend6 ай бұрын
Haha yeah it’s not super fair to compare the price of wine here to NYC, but we hear ya. It’s a pretty sweet deal.

@ofuco9708Ай бұрын

When I lived in A Coruna (2011-2012), tapa hopping prices were similar to Rei Do Xamon for tapas. The vino prices really haven't changed from what I seen.

Hi guys! Love your videos❤. Ideas for your vlogs: how did you guys decide to live in Galicia? Did you guys look at other cities? How many caminos do you walk a year? Are you planning to return to the US? How old are you? How long have you been together? How did Shawn’s family end up in Spain? Nosy people want to know …… I mean inquiring minds want to know😅. XOXO😊

Thanks so much! Some of these questions are great for a future FAQ video, so we'll only answer a few now. :) Since we moved to Spain, we walk maybe 3 Caminos a year. We've looked at a few cities in Spain, but decided to try it here. Because we walked Caminos, we spent enough time in Galicia to know we love it.

I'm a BIG tortilla fan. Your version is a tad too soft for me (the one with the cebolla caramelizada in O Frade), but I share your overall direction. You go towards the "Betanzos style". Great stuff!. BTW: Since U guys are usually looking for suggestions. Whenever you are finishing the Camino Francés. Chek this tortilla out: O Ceadoiro in Santa Irene. For me, possibly the best tortilla.
@DaysWeSpend6 ай бұрын
Oh yeah. We’re all about that Betanzos style. Gooey and golden. We will absolutely check out that tortilla recommendation since we’re on the hunt for the perfect tortilla. Thanks so much and thanks for watching.

Wow! I don't think you can get even one tortilla for $10.50 here in Toronto. Never mind all that you got at your first stop! Your whole night out at 3 different spots costs less than a burger and a drink here 🤪 That's it! I'm moving to Spain! 😂

@DaysWeSpend5 ай бұрын
Thanks! Depending on the bar/restaurant, there are often options for cheese based plates or mushrooms. Some places cater more for vegetarian tastes. There are increasingly more vegetarians in Spain, so more and more places are offering veggie dishes.

Thank you for the all the time nice and interesting videos. Maybe you can create also one about how to order food in a bar and in which way to pay (e.g. cash or card) and to give a tip. (How much, to let it on the table or to give it directly to the waiter) Wishing you the best J
@DaysWeSpend6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much. We'll add that video idea to our list. For tipping, if you have amazing service, you can give it to the waiter. Or, if you pay in cash just leave a bit more. Usually tipping is for fancier restaurants.

How has your daily schedule been modified? Are you used to eating at 8:30pm (or later) and stores opening and closing and opening again throughout the day?
@DaysWeSpend6 ай бұрын
Great question. We have completely adapted to where it feels weird to eat before 8 or 9pm. And we barely notice the midday siesta break anymore. It just makes sense once you live here a while. I’m not saying it’s perfect and isn’t inconvenient sometimes, but it’s normal and we’ve adapted to that pace.

Hi, I have enjoyed many of your great, informative videos. I am wondering how you overcome the 2-step authentication process required by US banks and government agencies, in which a US phone number is needed? I understand that a local number in Spain is also required? Is there a low cost way of accomplishing this?
@DaysWeSpend5 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! For our phones, we ported our American numbers to Google Voice (one time $20 fee). We also have local Spanish numbers.

Question- Do you tip? Great video, I was wondering if you tip and if so how much... I know Spain doesn't have the tipping culture of the US.
@DaysWeSpend6 ай бұрын
At these places we don’t tip unless we pay with cash and it’s more of a rounding. Tipping isn’t expected but obviously appreciated. In Spain it’s never more than a euro for pinchos like what we got, but no most people don’t tip here, at least in our experience.
