Yes. For some reason, people keep coming to my original upload. I have one with a fix on the audio lag here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn2YdXSsi7h8ja8

You are most welcome. It's funny how my most popular video is not some fancy video but a problem worked out on school paper with a marker.

Thanks so much! I wish my geometry teacher would have taught us this before giving us homework on it 😡

Lol what? What teacher on earth gives homework on things they haven't even taught? It's like taking a student on a flight test with the student being the pilot without even teaching them ANYTHING on it

Ms. Overman did with a sheet of common paper, a generic marker & 12 human minutes what other Geom teachers may try to demonstrate over the course of 2 or 3 days with a Smartboard, a class set of Ti- calcs & an advanced degree in Mathematosis.

You're welcome. I hope to have time someday to remove some of the lag between the audio and video. I used the Texas STAAR Geometry math chart. Since comments cannot have links, I'm putting one in the video description now which has the math chart near the bottom of that page.

thnaks a lot, it was really usefull, sorry ti bother you, but could you send me the chart you got for the trigonometric functions, i dont know how or when to use them
@sherylwitkovich52425 жыл бұрын
Sin= opposite side/ hypotenuse Cos=adjacent side/ hypotenuse Tan= opposite side/ adjacent side Just think of SOH CAH TOA and that will help a lot to remember the trig functions

Is your calculator in degrees? That is usually the biggest issue.
@ornellikay73795 жыл бұрын
If the number of side was 7 how would you solve the rest of the equation with a decimal?? Since 360 / 7 doesn’t divide easily?
@matthewy11115 жыл бұрын
use a calculator so it has the exact number, and don't round anything until you have the final answer.
@AzucenaOverman5 жыл бұрын
You will have a decimal value which is fine. There are lots of nonintegers in geometry.
@rukamer58768 жыл бұрын
This was very helpful but a little pointer for the calculator function was SOHCAH TOA... Sin-Opposite-Hypotenuse Cos-adjacent-hypotenuse Tan-opposite- hypotenuse or the acronym of Oscar Had A Heap Of Apples. Just thought maybe that would help your students out.
@AzucenaOverman8 жыл бұрын
+Rebecca Noerenberg I do show that to them in my earlier lessons. My kids are allowed to use a math chart and don't have to memorize but they have heard SOHCAHTOA. I shouldn't be totally reteaching trig in this video since it's long enough as is. Thanks for the comment. For those of you who haven't watched my other videos, Rebecca does have a good suggestion for memorizing your trig identities.
@rukamer58768 жыл бұрын
Okay thank you I only mentioned it cause in geometry we're going over trig
@saintwilliam84998 жыл бұрын
+Rebecca Noerenberg We taught trig in February and did this lesson in the end of March/beginning of April. Even though I already taught trig, I still have students refusing to learn it. : ( I had a student correcting an old trig quiz who came into tutorials and complained "I just came here to do corrections and you're trying to make me learn." The life of a geometry teacher. ; )

Mrs. Overman I don't know if you remember me from sixth grade in Taylor Middle School but I had you for my math class. Anyways thank you for this video that showed me how to find the apothem of a regular polygon. From: Omar Alonso

Sorry, I didn't reply earlier. Once my math kiddo, always my math kiddo. I'm glad I was able to help you even though I'm not at Taylor anymore.

I didn't go very far in school but on perfect octagons I know a lot simpler way to get the answer than what you did. to find the length of the side of an octagon multiply five twelveths times the diameter and then multiply twelve fifths time the side to make sure your correct so if the side is 10 the diameter will be 24 and that thing your calling the apothem is 12 half the diameter. on a right triangle if the base is 5 and the diagonal side is on a 22.5 degree it will be 13 and the vertical side will be 12 . half the side is 5 times 12 the apothem divided by 2 equals 30 times 16 equals 480 that should be the area of your octagon I hope you read this and if you do teach everything as simple as you can where everybody can learn it because they will be using some kind of math the rest of their days and also teach them to get the exact answers not just close because when your building an octagon unless you use the fraction five twelveths times the diameter or 12 fifths times the side your going to come up short because the calculators aren't exact

@AzucenaOverman6 жыл бұрын
With the exception of a regular hexagon made of special right triangles, you are correct. When I was your age we started to have calculators but before that we looked up the trigonometric values in tables in our book. There are online calculators and calculator apps for your phone. You could also get tables if you felt like going old school but I wouldn't recommend it. Good luck!
