With ARP setup you can mute steps. This introduces the ability of patterns.

As far as I know, you can’t do that on AF but the Octatrack you can for sure send midi arp out so you might wanna look into an Octatrack

Hi, Ponchy! Is it possible to input chords in standart grid recording mode?

Yes! All you have to do is hold down the trig and then play the chord while doing it but you'll notice that the arpeggio will technically only play for one step so you need to goto the NOTE menu and adjust the LEN parameter to choose how long you want the arpeggio to play. IMO it's easier to record the arpeggiator in live recording mode however you do have to make sure you're in time when you do that. Or you could record it live by holding the chord down for the length you want and adjust the micro timing or just copy/paste the trig to another trig. Either way works great.

one thing I'm struggling with - what you do at 6.20 - when I do that and run the sequence it only plays the first trig and not the arp. What have I missed? Thanks.

No prob! The arp is on and set to “UP” as well as the RNG is set to “3” so it’s basically playing the note C in 3 octaves.

@@Ponchy I think I'm doing exactly what you do in the video but the sequence plays the root note of the arp on the first trig and that's it!
