When I started to show interest in being an instrumentalist in my early teens instead of just singing and listening to songs, I started with the acoustic folk guitar then eventually ‘graduated’ to organ keyboards which inevitably led me to the acoustic piano. Thanks to pianote I am still discovering new things about this instrument 🎹 which harkens me back to the time I jammed with my friends as a rhythm guitarist or keyboardist. 2 things are needed for the mindset to tackle the piano: 1) You need a goal like wanting to play songs 2) You never be afraid of difficulties but relish learning them

In the Play Faster Faster Scales by Jordan Rudess in Pianote, he tells us that in order to play Faster move the arm and avoid the thumb tuck. So when playing multi octave arpeggios, Instead of a thumb tuck can I move my entire hand over to the higher octave?

Everyone I ask about where should I start learning how to play piano they almost all say "arpeggios." Some would say "chords" but I am going to attempt to make a road map for my learning progress. Arpeggios first, chords, then reading, then theory. Arpeggios seem like a great starting point to get my feet wet. My gear will arrive Nov 2nd 2024 and I am excited to learn how to play it. For those who are curious Roland GO 88 key with pedal. Entire learning process is going to be recorded and documented for gauging my progress.

Very nice. I have a Yamaha P525 piano with 88 keys, but in the most piano songs a have the feeling of using only 2-3 octaves of my keyboard. Perhaps you can make a video how to use a larger range of a keyboard ? I often play songs (with playground) where a have a simple melody for the right hand and chords or chord variations with my left hand. Songs with single notes also for my left hand are often to difficult for me, because i can only look at the notes for my right hand and not both.

In the two-octave arpeggio, the crossover is done after the third tone with the right hand, but only after the forth tone with the left hand. Is there any reason for this difference? It's really confusing when playing with both hands. Thanks in advance (and also for this video). :)

Hi iam a severely arthritic patient Finger dexterity exercises will help make fatty or swollen limbs stretch and more flexible for a variety of tasks including playing instruments. You can Google exercises you can do at home with materials already at home. Next step is to incorporate similar exercises for Piano. I'm a newbie and still learning. I couldn't even hold 3 notes together for more than 3 seconds. But occupational therapy is helping.

@@kasper_573 when it's shaper where the first note is a black key and the second is a white one between blacks, it's impossible for me. Especially if it's a 4-note arpeggio

Is it normal to be able to switch and transition easier with one hand than the other? The flipping the fingers or thumbs under to move over notes (in general) is much easier for me with my left hand than my right. Thing is... I'm RIGHT HANDED. 🤣
