Yet many people think it's a good idea to force women who know they are not fit to be parents to carry out a pregnancy and give birth to a child they are not prepared to care for properly. They use a flimsy argument of adoption as a option yet what they don't like to tell people is that many states discourage adoption even force woman to spend several days with the infant before they are able to sign over rights. Giving a child up for adoption isn't a lack of love for the child, it's the ultimate love, to know that you can't give them the life you want for them and give them up so they have a better life is a selfless act. To force them to spend time with a baby is cruel and manipulation. Try to remember this as we see that most children in the justice system are the products of poor home life. Try to think of the increasing burden on our society as more children are forced to exist in a environment not prepared to care for them properly... we often say that some people should not have children but when a woman tells us that she shouldn't have a child we say we know better...

When all day it was obvious that LE was looking for them. It took LE finding them and arresting them - to even make these court appearances this morning. Otherwise - they would still be in that basement !! I have zero sympathy for their attorneys. It seems that they were pleading with the court that they did not know what was going on. Total BS. The defense attorneys are truly truly terrible. First, they claim the couple didn't flee (even though they couldn't get in touch with them, and the parents had to be fully aware the police were looking for them.) Then they bizarrely claim their own malpractice to be at fault? Talk about falling on the sword for your client. To admit as a murder defense attorney that you're so unqualified for the job you didn't even know when an arraignment was? Yikes. Think it's far more likely everyone knew exactly when they were supposed to be where and the parents were trying to flee. For the defense attorney to claim their own incompetence to try to divert that fact is... insane... and honestly, exactly the level of counsel these people deserve.

At the end of the day, no jury is gonna believe this defense. I just find it very very unusual and frankly amusing to see a defense attorney try to claim their own malpractice to avoid the fact their client tried to flee.

Between this and the Laundrie case I think we need to be very concerned with how our authorities are tracking potential murder suspects. It seems way too easy for them to escape. @@emmy4030 They're charged with manslaughter and not as accessories to murder precisely because the prosecutors don't believe they intended to get anyone killed. All the prosecution needs to prove is that the parents did egregious things that endangered the community, and that were so absurd, any reasonable person could have seen this tragedy coming. Buying your child a weapon (a felony) and leaving that weapon unsecured (criminal negligence) will get them convicted. A reasonable parent wouldn't buy a suicidal and homicidal child a gun. They're clearly not reasonable. But they are guilty. That's why the word "involuntary" is in the charge. This bullying very often became physical and, as a result, I started fighting back. That only landed me in more trouble. I once brought a knife to school and it fell out of my backpack in the locker room. I was immediately yanked from PE, sent to the office, and my mom was called. There was a conference discussing my future at the school, I was sent home and suspended for two weeks. The next day, Mom got the call that I'd been permanently expelled. @@LibertyDankmeme don’t wanna get charged for negligent conduct? Then don’t act negligently. It’s that simple. Stop fear mongering, the only parents “they will be coming for” are the ones either dumb enough or negligent enough to buy a firearm for their 15 year old who has a journal about how he wants to kill his classmates AND THEN leave that gun unsecured in a dresser drawer where that troubled child can access it at his own leisure without any supervision or permission.

@@LibertyDankmeme you’d have to have no more than 2 brain cells in total to believe that these parents acted diligently and responsibly.

Only one thing I disagree with is that Parents can't be "friends". Yes we can! But we still are responsible for any decisions that we make regarding our children.

This defence team will loose..the attorney saying her client's "intended to turn themselves in" is a crock of 💩. They would not have gone on the run if they were going to turn themselves in. They take off abandoning their kid in custody. They don't deserve bail..they are a flight risk.
