Discovered this song through Aryeh Frankfurter and I absolutely adore it. It’s a real treat to hear it on a hammered dulcimer!

Oh yay! So happy to hear “Mayor Harrison’s Fedora” again! Uncle David’s recording of that song in his garage when you had just finished building your dulcimer is what made me fall in love with your playing! I wish I still had access to that recording; the joie de vivre bounds out of the speakers! But I sure enjoyed this recording! Many warm wishes!

How long does it take to memorize every string note and not accidentally hit another string? Mind boggling
@EvanPlaysDulcimer9 ай бұрын
Depends on the tune. A lot of it is muscle memory. It starts with figuring out the placement of all the right notes for a tune, then once you’ve practiced it enough times it gets easier to play. Also over time you get to know the general layout of the notes so it becomes easier to learn tunes. I still make mistakes a lot though, so it’s hard 😬 (those takes you don’t see on KZbin lol)

Wow, I just saw in the description that you made the dulcimer you're playing on - amazing! I can see two in the video, how many do you own? And have you made all of them yourself? :)
@EvanPlaysDulcimer10 ай бұрын
Thank you! I only made the one I’m playing. I own 3 technically but only 2 that I actually use, which are the ones you see. The one in the back there is a Songbird Phoebe, very good for its relatively low cost
