I was born without a name and placed for adoption. The nurses decided I looked Irish, and named me Micky--with that spelling. I always loved the Irish actors Pat O'Brien, Barry Fitzgerald, luscious Maureen O'Hara--all of them. 40 years later, I found my family, and learned my father was Irish. What I loved proved to be mine all along. I'm IRISH!!

These songs reminds me of the Irish pub I went to one St. Patrick day called The Blarney Stone. It was a wonderful place. Even though my friend and I were the only black faces there, they made us feel welcomed. They gave us a seat right in front of the band. The food was delicious and the music was beautiful. A pleasant memory. Thanks for sharing these songs.

Well, here we go. This is Ireland with its history and culture. A country battered by the English, nature and its heritage. This culture is full of emotions and the will to fight for its belief and history. Once a year, I dive into this heritage, get drunk and try to live through the past of my ancestry. As a spoiled modern bloke, I'll never find the right approach to the hardship this country has been through over the decades. My granddad was born in Kinsale, and my dad was in Australia, as I am. God bless Ireland, and may it be united in the future! Long live an united Irish Republic!

Being a musician myself, and an Irishman, I've investigated those links, and have found almost every single bluegrass fiddler and guitarist in the states to say their music came directly from my Irish forefathers who took our beautiful music to the new world. Anyone who listens to both musical traditions will undoubtedly arrive at the same conclusion as we did.😊 All the best to you.

Our Carribbean Brethren always have a pass in Ireland. Our grandfathers stood side by side against the racists in England when our grandfathers first landed there and both of us were abused terribly, and we fought together, defending each other, and ever since, the afro Carribbean and Irish communities in England have a long standing friendship. The infamous old sign which was hung all around England in the 50s and 60s said: "NO blacks, No Irish NO dogs." Well do you know what? We went in anyway, and the locals all left in their backs.. The friendly fellas were blind drunk after a roaring session, and carried out on their backs to their beds. The racists were carried out on their backs laid out of a stretcher... That bond is still strong sister ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿✊

It's a different experience when you are here, with us, to celebrate Saint Patricks' day in Ireland ❤ You will more than likely spend the day outside, even in the rain, watching live music and dance, food stalls, social events and visiting friends, and family if you have family here. In England, they celebrate Saint Patricks day by going to a pub or a bar, and drinking all day, but it's just not like here... It's a far more of a family social event in Ireland, promoting Irish culture and heritage, music, poetry, arts and crafts, storytellers, fairs, and activities such as those. You'll love it! ❤
