+Mike Keesey I think for the most part it's a matter of opinion. Some people seem to really like the original style where it focuses on the family's dynamics but I personally liked the exploration of each character individually. I can only hope that season 5 will mix the two.

I liked the aspect of Season 4 that had the family separated, with their own episodes and storylines. The point made in the first three seasons is the family is selfish, toxic, and annoying, but they can't stay away from each other because of a family bond they all share, knowing that no one on the outside of their family circle would put up with their shit. The fourth season showed them all trying to go their separate ways, but proving that they are unable to--no matter where any of them goes, one or more of their family members are there at the same moment, illustrating that they are all on the same wavelength, so to speak--more like each other than they care to admit. I thought that was really brilliant.

Arrested Development doesn't do things to just do them. There's always some joke, some lead-in, some bigger tie to something else. That's what the whole show is about.

The one missing I love is when Gob is sitting and Sound of Silence starts to play, then Tobias joins and the music stops, Gob comments about Tobias being gay after he just found out about the running joke, then Sound of Silence plays for both Gob and Tobias but like 1 second off from each other. It's so hilarious. Maybe it was a Fateful Consequences addition and not in the original Season 4, I forget.

One that really got me was Gob in the boulder in the model home. After talking with Michael he hides in the boulder. Gob says "but how did I get in the boulder?", then the song plays but slightly muffled as if the source was inside the boulder. That extra touch is what really got me.

I really think season 4 demands multiple viewings like the other three seasons. the only reason fans know so much about seasons 1-3 is because we had 7 YEARS to re-watch them and find new things. i think we expected to get everything right away with season 4.

season 4 was great from the get go, its just the first 3 episodes were kind of slow since they were setting things up but then from there on out and you start seeing how each character is directly affecting the other person's stories its utter genius, i definetly think it warrants a rewatch because of how much everyone's storie's overlap eachother and the amount of subtle jokes in the background, such as how during certain character's stories if you look at the TV playing in the background its showing where they find gob in a storage unit or how you can frequently see tobias and maeby in the background of lindsey's episodes that being said im definetly ok with season 5 going back to how seasons 1-3 were with a chronological story, but season 4 is underrated none the less
