Why use inefficient wireless charging that uses a pantograph on each bus when you could do an efficient overhead direct connection with the pantograph on the charger? Look at what Siemens and ABB are doing. Plus they don't have to dig up the road.

Battery life is a big constraint and we do not know the environmental costs from disposal of expired batteries when they reach the end of its life cycle. Actually if you don't mind some overhead wires, electric trolleybus is still the most reliable & proven electric bus technology to date. They run in more than 300 cities worldwide and are the cheapest form of 100% electric public transport system without the need to lay rails. If your city is looking at introducing electric public transport schemes that do not cost a bomb (coz a tram system does!) then trolleybus is the right choice.

It's just a shame that the buses in MK cost so much, take so long to get anywhere, they are dirty and minimum effort is made to maintain the existing buses. One went by me the other day and water was boiling out of the filler cap as it was overheating and pouring onto the road, no wonder they have so many breakdowns. Also if more than two people are traveling together its just as cheap to get a taxi in MK, so why would you bother?

It's hilarious they would go to all the trouble and expense to create wireless charging buses that still have to be stationary while charging. That would be like excitedly introducing a mobile wireless phone that you had to get out at the bus stop and stand still next to an antenna for it to work while everybody else was driving by talking on their cell phones in motion in their cars.... And then thinking we're so stupid out here we couldn't figure out that you worked for the old fashioned wired land phone companies and were trying to confuse us as to what wireless phones were and how they worked, and why the reason for the invention of embedded wireless induction charging roadways....
