A band with over 10 albums can't be crappy right? I've seen them live here in Germany and it is always a plessure to see the dedication of the crowd. I've seen them once in Düsseldorf wich is theire hometown so it was kind of like a "homegame" and it was great. Valhalla and Bard song are alway in the lineup, the crowd will simply not leave until they play those songs. I saw once a concert and the lights were allready an at the venue and they didn't play Bards song and of a suddenthe crowed how wasn't moving home at all just started to sing the song. Consequently the light went out again, Band came out and played the song, was quiete goosebumby!

One time I saw them in Düsseldorf and the concert was actually over but the crowd was shouting for Majesty. So they came back out, Hansi said something about usually not working after-hours but they started playing Majesty nonetheless. It was so great 😂

@@blykynqp You are probably right, but Krefeld borders Düsseldorf. But when I saw them in Düsseldorf they said they call it a home concert, probably because there is no venue in Krefeld as big as they needed it.

They did this with and then there was silence at a show in Philly in maybe 2008. It was at most 1000 people in an old Oprah house (the trocadero) in Chinatown. Lights were on. Band had changed outfits. They came back out and played silence and then bards song with the house lights on. It was absolutely incredible.

Actually the very big metal bands are ACCEPT, Helloween and Blind Guardian from Germany were they considered pioneers at clasic metal (ACCEPT) and Power Metal (Helloween and Blind Guardian).

There are so many songs I want to recommend. Blind Guardian has so many great ones! For a sampling of Blind Guardian through the years, you should definitely check out Somewhere Far Beyond, Mirror Mirror, And Then There Was Silence, Fly, Wheel of Time, Sacred Mind, and so many more. It's hard to go wrong with BG.

Blind Guardian (a.k.a. Die tauben Gardinen ;) ) is one of the few metal bands almost everybody can and does agree on. I have seen everybody from part-time casual metal listeners to hardcore "trve" Black Metal types singing along to this band live with, well, tears in their eyes and a big, cheese-eating grin on their faces...

Long time Blind Guardian mark. Hansi's voice, in my opinion, doesn't quite hold up live but he's still a friggin' legend (probably depends on the show). Both of these songs are really old, but no less great because of that. Valhalla was when they were basically just speed metal. They've become a super well-rounded band over the years. "Sadly Sings Destiny" is absolutely epic. Hansi's work in Demons and Wizards is worth checking out too. And as a guest in Ayreon. Ayreon is awesome, definitely you should check them out. "The Day the World Breaks Down" is a good jumping off point for Ayreon.

One thing most people miss while watching this is, that this is a festival and that maybe only 10-20% of the people in the audience have been on any of their concerts (or have bought anything of their stuff). This is what makes festival (at least those I've been in germany) different from concerts and I really like it that way. Concert: fans come to enjoy the bands festival: bands come to enjoy the big crazy audience and to see how many (more) people really like/enjoy their music.

You should really check out the Wacken 2019 gig of Demons & Wizards, Hansi's side project with Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer, as long as it's still available on Magenta Musik (still 3 months to go). Absolutely fantastic music (great sound!) and show, and they played some stuff from their respective bands as well, including a certain song where Hansi pretended to be totally surprised when the crowd didn't stop chanting xD

They are known under the name Blind Guardian since 1987, before that they had an other name. They play speed, thrash, symphonic and progressive metal. You can't press them in one genre... they were my first metal bands i ever heard in the 90's. Maybe you wanna react to Mirror, Mirror, Mordreds Song, Somwhere far beyond, Lord of the Rings, Nightfall on Middle Earth, And than there was silence.... etc. There are so many great songs of them...

Blind Guardian were called Lucifer's Heritage at first from 84-86 or so, since that it was always Blind Guardian and they really came into their own by Tales From the Twilight World ('90), which is where they started to lean more towards power metal, the two previous albums ('88 & '89) had been more or less speed. I've been following them for about 15 years now, haha. They were my first real power metal love so they'll always have a place in my heart.

Other legendary bands that play this style from your own country: Helloween (the granddaddy of them all), Gamma Ray, Iron Savior, Masterplan. Germany is the birthplace of power metal basically. Blind Guardian started in the late 80's and sounded like early Helloween at first, but then developed their own brand of power metal. It's funny that an ad for Assassin's Creed Valhalla came up just as the Viking ship was being shown.

I have been listening to Blind Guardian and dozens of power metal bands for about a little over a decade now. Their first album, officially as Blind Guardian, was released in 1988. From those beginnings they incorporated a lot of fantasy and historical themes in their lyrics (a staple of powermetal!), but their musical style was more like speed metal with thrash elements. However, since their album Imaginations From the Other Side (1995), I would say most listeners would categorize them as a power metal band, and more recently even a symphonic power metal band. They are consistently regarded as power metal pioneers, along with Helloween and others. My top recommendations for another reaction? 1. Mirror Mirror (often regarded as their "best" song) 2. Nightfall 3. Battlefield 4. Bright Eyes Other power metal bands to check out: 1. Helloween (first song recommendation: "Future World") ALSO GERMAN 2. Stratovarius (first song recommendation: "Black Diamond") 3. Gloryhammer (first song recommendation: "Universe on Fire") 4. Hammerfall (first song recommendation: "Renegade") 5. A good Studio song to check out would be Tanelorn (into the void), from the Edge of Time Album. Punishment Divine and Soulforged from the Album A Night at the Opera are excellent too. As for what type of Metal, I once heard Hansi in an interview say the band didn't like to put a label on their music. He just told people they were a Metal Band, and left it at that. I would also recommend checking out Demons & Wizards, the side band of Hansi and Jon Shaeffer from Iced Earth. Well worth it.

Neben Blind Guardian solltest du auch dringend mal bei Heaven Shall Burn reinhören! Noch eine deutsche Metalband, die in den von dir erwähnten Aufzählungen kaum erwähnt wird, obwohl sie schon seit fast 25 Jahren aktiv und weltweit sogar äußerst berühmt sind. Ihre aktuelle Platte war vor kurzem auf Platz 1 der deutschen Albumcharts, VOR Pietro Lombardi. Und das, obwohl ausnahmslos alle Bandmitglieder nebenbei einen ganz normalen Job ausüben. Der Sänger Marcus Bischoff ist zum Beispiel Krankenpfleger auf der ITS. Übrigens: die gesamte Band ernährt sich vegan. Hier mal ein paar Songvorschläge: Endzeit Voice of the voiceless (Wacken) Protector/ weakness leaving my heart (Doppelvideo zum aktuellen Album, sprich 2 Songs in einem Video) Ach ja richtig, einen Song namens "Valhalla" haben sie auch (Blind Guardian Cover) 😉

They are two songs. The Bard's Song is from the album Somewhere far Beyond, Walhalla from the album Follow the Blind. Being from 1992 and 1989, they are some of their older songs and their style has changed a lot in the last 25 years from speed metal to power metal and symphonic metal.
