Arriving in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) GUIDE May 2024

This is a video guide for Foreigners flying into Malaysia's International Airport KLIA 1, directions and instructions to pass immigration, the new Malaysian Digital Arrival Card is now compulsory for all foreigners entering the country (with a few exceptions). Exchanging at the airport will be expensive so you can exchange it from kl sentral. You will find good money exchanger in the city

If you are a Australian citizen arriving, do you have to go through normal immigration first to register your passport details, then next time you can just go through the automatic e-gate entry and departure..correct?

in a few days i will self transferring through KL on my way back home to Australia from Europe, I will be self transferring from KLIA 1 to KLIA 2 so i will have to clear immigration and technically enter the country, however since there is just 5 hours between my flights i wont actually be leaving the airport. I understand that the alcohol limit into malaysia is 1L per person, however the alcohol limit into my fianl destination (Australia) is 2.25L. im just wondering if the Malaysian 1L limit will apply if im self transfering onto a connecting flight within a matter of hours?

just show them your ticket that you are transferring.. should be ok.. probably cheaper to get it in aus when u arrive

How long did it take you to clear immigration? I am arriving at KLIA at 8:30, I have to clear immigration and have MDaC filled out and only hand luggage. However, I have my next flight at KLIA2 at 13:40, is this enough time?

it should take less than an hour depending on how busy it is ie. how many planes landed at that time, plenty of time for you, just have to take another train once you get out of the main gate, turn left walk towards the lift and go to the last floor down to catch the KLIA express train to KLIA 2, costs about 2RM which is about 50 cents USD, hope that helps!

Unfortunately not, it is 2 different airports, so it needs to be done fresh..

if you are not getting out of immigration you don't need to fill the form..

Terminal 1 (Satellite Bldg), the immigration is located at the MTB (Main Terminal Bldg) of Terminal 1.

yes it is klia1.. the sky train use to take people to the immigration area but currently out of order (been a while now) hopefully they will fix it soon.
