At 14 minutes and 20 seconds, what you ate on the street is called "엿" or yeot in Korean. This is made by boiling a mixture of steamed rice and dried malt with water, allowing it to simmer for an extended period. This process extracts the malt components from the rice's starch, resulting in a sweet taste in the boiled liquid, which we call "식혜" or Sikhye. If you continue to boil Sikhye, the moisture evaporates, and it transforms into "조청" or Jocheong, which translates to "human-made honey." As it loses its water content, Jocheong becomes thicker and even sweeter. If you further boil Jocheong, it eventually solidifies into a dense, solid form known as "엿," or yeot which is similar to candy but also has medicinal properties beneficial to the human body.

It's amazing how this long process creates a sweet delicacy from rice, without the addition of any artificial flavours or sugar! We really liked it - the chewy texture only added to its value 😋 Thanks for explaining everything to us!

@@chi__chiatuegwu If you visit Korea, you have to study a lot about Korean food. Because traveling is about seeing a view of the country and eating the food of the country. To eat various Korean foods in your country, it is difficult to know such places and you have to pay more than five times the price. So, if you come to Korea and experience a lot of Korean food, you will be rewarded with your plane ticket payment. However, you have to be careful not to go to the hospital by eating too much food at once. It will ruin your trip, after all. It is a good idea to search for Korean food on KZbin or find out by asking Chatgpt to tell you 30 typical Korean foods. Of course, there are things you need to know more about in detail. These are ways about where to go and how to eat. It is not that easy, either, because there are desserts and bunsik in addition to simple foods. Some foods can be disappointed if you do not know what the food is aiming for and do not listen to the detailed explanations.

Welcome to Korea. Currently, Korea is experiencing a long holiday season similar to Thanksgiving in the United States. Therefore, most people in Seoul are leaving for their hometowns, and most of those who remain are likely to be people who cannot go to their hometowns and are unable to rest. So, they may be people who are having a depressed time. That's why their expressions are not bright. Please note that many stores are closed for the time being. I hope you have a pleasant trip in Seoul.

Korean do not exchange greetings just because you made an eye contact with them, but when you walk up to them ask question or ask for help they will try to help you with kindness. Also one thing to be aware they won’t say sorry or excuse me even if they accidentally bump into you. That’s just how it is in Korea.

The rice candy you tried is candy made of rice syrup. So there is no added refined white sugar granules, but it is still a form of suger just little less refined/processed and has a little minerals still remaining. So you could say it's slightly less harmful than regular candies made of white sugar and food coloring.

Myeongdong just completely transformed after around 2012 when foreign tourists started coming in masses. Before then myeongdong was just like another busy shopping areas in Korea. But since around 2012 the area somehow just changed to a area that's completely dedicated to serving foreign tourists needs. Since then no Koreans actually go there to do anything. We actually go there when we feel like we want to see tourists from around the world. 😂 And talking about street food there, the price is really overpriced because it's only aimed for foreign tourists and since they don't know the prices very well and are willing to pay more because it feels like exploring Korean culture. But anyways I wish you had good time in Korea!

Japanese and Korean "traditional" architecture are real Chinese architecture (different dynasties architectural styles). The Chinese character " 華 " represents " China/Chinese(Han) ", and the image of " 華 " is a logo of Chinese architectural wood structure, which is the unique architectural style of China. It represents the extent of the power and influence of ancient China. Japanese "traditional" architecture was replicated by the Chinese Tang Dynasty architecture (black roof). Many buildings were replicated at the time of Chinese Tang Dynasty architecture (simple version) at that time. It was almost the same. In the Ming Dynasty of China, it was in charge of Korea's territory and regime. It was a Chinese architecture built by colonial Korea (it was created by the technical guidance of the Chinese), and it was by no means Korean "traditional" architecture. In ancient Korea, there was no such complex architectural technology. Korea's local traditional architecture was a cottage built by grass. ----------------------- On the ancient peninsula (today in Korea), the royal family and nobles were Chinese and descendants (recognized by the Chinese emperor's governance peninsula). They speak Chinese official language (and Chinese dialects). They use Chinese characters. They wear Chinese noble clothes. They use Chinese coins. They have always claimed to be Chinese. They use Chinese emperor as their parents (except the Yuan Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty are not the Han emperors). Civilians and slaves are the southernmost indigenous people on the peninsula-Koreans. In history, ancneit Korean are called "White clothes ethnic". All Koreans wear pure white clothes (except for very few people who work for Chinese nobles). Korean women's clothes expose their nipples. They speak Korean language. There is no characters (only appeared after the 15th century). There is no coin (product exchange). Almost all Korean are illiterate. (Until 1890. Westerners and Japanese entered the peninsula. ----------------------- Ancient Chinese officials and scholars living on the Korean Peninsula on the Korean Peninsula. They have a deep understanding of Chinese characters. Combined with the language of the "White clothes ethnic" (today Korean), to create "Korean characters". People who do not understand Chinese language and Chinese characters. They can't create Korean characters. The ancient Koreans were banned from using Chinese characters. Because only Chinese officials and Chinese on the Korean Peninsula could be used. The goal of invented the "Korean characters". Chinese officials can show various tasks to the indigenous writings and command slaves through the "Korean characters". "Korean text" is mainly used for indigenous people.

Great video! For your SIM, it looks like you have the newest iPhone. Did you have to replace a physical sim or did they provide you some kind of "esim?" Thank you!

Hey! I do pretty much all the filming and hold the camera. Sometimes Karolina records me whilst I do something or I put the camera on a tripod and talk away :) Thank you very much!

We stayed in total of 3 weeks in South Korea and we really enjoyed it! 😍 We also wanted to see another side of the country, so we went to cities such as Jeonju, Gwangju, Gyoengju, which gave us a lot to discover, because the cities were different, but also the people and food... And what's more - we plan to come back at the end of the year because we really we liked it!

Thank you! We like to do small research always before entering the country! However, the real culture you can only experience later on during the trip 😊

You are from the same area my parents came from after the war. They are also Polish after the war. My mother is from Gliwice and my father from Katowice and the funny thing is I translated that German woman at the same time as you. Im also going to Korea in August 2024

That's crazy! Glad to hear that Peter :) It's very common for us Poles form the West to speak fluent German and I even have a citizenship because of the blood line 😬🇵🇱🇩🇪 Korea was such an exciting country for us so we decided to go there this Autumn too! Will try to film more of a local content but it's quite hard to know all the insights haha Wishing you a great trip! ✈️ [K&J]

Yup, a city where you need to have multiple cards, like Jakarta 😂 Seoul is lightyears ahead of Jakarta, it feels like a whole brand new world there. But Jakarta has been improving a lot these recent years so I hope the gap would be getting smaller. Anw, just a simple knowledge to read a Korean word as a fellow non-korean: "eo" is read like "o" in God, "eu" is read like "e" in "listen" but a bit deeper, "ae" is read like "e" in "bear" or "breath", "myeo" or "gyeo" and something like that have to be read quickly, "Myeong-dong" not "mi-yeong-dong". Can't wait for the next vlogs. I've been following your journey from your visit in Indonesia.
