Best honest review. ( + very relevant HBX 16889 pro comparison ) Arrma's drivetrain is far from being bulletproof : metal pin screwed in the plastic wheel axles should wear very fast. Same with the plastic tiny gears inside the diffs , and again plastic diff cups... It holds well during most reviews , but after more packs , Arrma designed the drivetrain so you will have to pay again for metal wheel axles + upgraded diffs with metal cups (of course you cant buy diff cups only...) either hop up costs 50 bucks each ... and still no brushless... (brushed stock its boring SLOW , and motor gets super hot) This tiny truck becomes VERY expensive for its poor perfomance . 1/18 is just too small outside (and too big inside.) Nice but that 's all , truly speaking. 😉
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how many packs you have through yours yet but I've got quite a few through mine and other than that one output cup I haven't broken anything. And that's on brushless power which is probably 50% more than it was meant to have with the stock system. I really do think this is a very durable setup And it's actually been stronger than I expected it to be.
@1peanut Жыл бұрын
Maybe its your driving mate. Even large highly upgraded RCs it is best not to land on throttle and such. Driving style can make or break anything. My grom has held up far beyond expectation. I am very impressed with this little truck.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
@1peanut Yeah I'd have to disagree with the original comment. I've got a lot of packs through my truck before upgrading the differentials and as long as you're reasonable with bashing it the plastic parts really do hold up well.

@@Madprax what do you mean by canceled? I haven't deleted any comments from anyone. I really think it just depends on what you're looking for The HBX is a fun truck but it's also cheaply made, hard to work on and has so much slop in everything that over maybe 20 miles an hour becomes pretty hard to control. Don't get me wrong. It's a fun little car but it definitely has its downsides. The Grom is more expensive but it's also a better designed and better put together vehicle. I don't think either one of them are bad per se I just think that they will likely appeal to different demographics.

@@DoRC my Merv has a lot of upgrades, it makes it faster than the HBX, MJX, etc. The issue is that you have to do upgrades just to cover the flaws, such as shim the differential to keep it from breaking. MJX had issues with the differential on some of the models, but the newer ones have better differentials. Meanwhile Traxxas just keeps making the same flaws where you actually have to buy the parts to upgrade it. The Merv is better when you dump money in it, but it is weak and sucks right out of the box. Lately, I have been using the Hyper Go H14BM and I love it. The Merv is not a real basher so it shouldn't be compared to the Grom or Hyper Go anyway. I'd have to see that 1631. I looked at a picture of it and can't really see how it would get you to the differential it only six screws. Yeah as soon as I'm able to get the upgraded differential for it I will be putting bigger tires on it for sure.
