The Corally Kagama 4s are 2 time better than this truck for 90$ more. With all this upgrade the Granite cost 600$ +. The Kagama have better : diff, steering, 16mm shock with 4mm rod, aluminum chassis, metal cvd ...

The plastic links are there so they can sell an "Ultimate" Jato version in a couple of months with adjustable links.

I think that recever box is actually on another car and not jato specific because I've never had that car and I recognize it from a old rig I had when I used to buy sell and trade them a lot

My TLR Typhon hit nearly 70MPH out of the box on a 120 C-rated Lipo LOL. When Horizon drops the firmware update for the new ESC's it may hit the mid 70's or even 80 MPH. This performed well for a traxxas, there are still better and cheaper options at 4S.

Any compensation cheats for a narrow track just limits suspension travel and adds scrub when steering. Id call it lazy shortcut "engineering"!

I don’t like that much offset on wheels and hexes. Increases scrub and decreases performance and increases stress on suspension and steering component. If it’s anything like the rustler 4x4 I’m all set

800 in canada. by comparisson, the arrma typhon 3s is on sale right now for 399. normally 460. In no universe is the jato better than a typhon 3s. even the older model of typhon is better. Its what happens when you are a contentious IP litigator first, and sometimes a toy company. Traxxas should just get into NFT's and leave toys alone.

As usual, it's priced in the stratosphere. There's quite a few other options at that price point and some are built much better than this model. Sorry, not this time, Traxxas.

600 dollars is way too much. You can get an arrma 6s line car for that price. Every other car in that class has better parts all around with better tuning options. Traxxas prices will never go down as long as people keep paying top dollar for medium quality.

As you say, there are better options like the Arrma Typhon 3s or even Typhon 6s lower in price. Not too much is lower, and you can find the 6s in roller close to $360

To be honest if anyone owes a apology it’s traxxas themselves they have sued and almost put to many companies out of business because of their pattens which just kills the hobby and creativity despite them coping other designs multiple times 😑

Great overview of the vehicle @DoRc! When you do your speed test can you do it on the dirt road also? I’d like to see if there is any appreciable difference between the grass and dirt road to simulate a true off road experience. I agree with you about the price point as well. I’m a huge RC enthusiast and for whatever reason Traxxas is always a bit over the mark. I believe they would attract so many more people if they were a little more competitive with their pricing. They seem to dominate the market so they must realize it but perhaps they are marketing it towards specific enthusiasts.

The HR servo saver was a pain to figure out and put on but, has been a warrior ever since.

Every traxxas basically costs double what the sticker price is. One half for the vehicle and the other half to upgrade parts that are crap. 5 years ago, could recommend traxxas to people. But outside of the trx4 they don’t make anything worth it anymore

$400. That's the price point this might be defensible. Even that is pushing since a 6s Typhon can often be had close to that. I don't hate the buggy but the price is insulting. It does nothing to warrant that premium price. The only reason it's possibly is because of how great Traxxass once was. That legendary warranty is long gone. That innovator leader is no more. All that remains of the Traxxass i used to know is the premium price.

Same with the cheap servos in xmaxx and xrt, totally unacceptable

I used to only own Traxxas. I was one of those guys who always defended them to the end. I believed everything Talbot and Mark Santa Monica said and would repeat it as gospel. Then i bought the $399 black friday Fireteam. Now i one have 1 Xmaxx and a TRX6 left from Traxxass in my collection and a couple dozen rigs from others with more Arrma than any other. I swore I'd never buy another Traxxass unless it was something special that nobody else made. This ain't that. I'll stick to a Typhon or Asuga xl for basher buggies at that price.

You can make a ryft servo saver work on the 3s/4s arrma line. Requires like 6mm spacers and some trimming to the servo box

I like my Traxxis big foot it’s a wheelie machine stock and soon as you get it right with the dampners it comes with you can do a lot better wheelies and control it a lot better to! I can make mine ride on any 2 wheels side back not front cause it doesn’t have brakes but still! I rolled it once learning but that’s what it’s about right! Still runs and looks brand new! I have the BL-2 version I guess that’s the middle one the VXL is the big dog and the XR5 is there cheapest model but still good! Just not as quick!

Awesome and unbiased video as always! Jato 4x4 vxl is brilliant, lightweight and durable, but taking the price into consideration, it falls to the bottom of the category in my opinion.

Good buggy, but insanely overpriced, you could get a much better rtr or even a roller and better electronics for that price. One thing I noticed, you seem kind of biased, like with the plastic geared servo; where you brushed it of in a way… You got shit on by TRAXXAS or did they sent it to you or what’s going on? Sad for me, I subscribed to this channel because of unbiased reviews/talks about extreme bashers, Don’t know if I can trust it anymore.
