ARRMA Kraton 6s EXB & V3 MUST HAVE M2C Upgrades 😱!!!

Everyone has a favorite basher. Some are "better" than others. One which has exceeded most expectations is the ARRMA Kraton 6s. Simply a wonderful platform with brilliant possibilities and a plethora of aftermarket support. You'd be hard pressed to find a better all around basher. Definitely on my absolute favorites list and a must have in my book. Shout out to M2C Racing and Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA.

That was a hell of a Double Kraton bash brother. Was cool to see some different spots brother Rich. You always mix it up but that backwoods BMX spot was sweet bro, nothing like discovering a treasure like that! The Kraton just rips brother, I just ripped my ESC off mine for my son's rebuild but my Spektrum 160 is about to slide to my Kraton for a rebuild, she is already M2Cified but just needs more power to get stupid! 🚀🚀🚀😂🤣 Your control on those back woods spots, I would have been in the bushes every two seconds 🤣😂😔, some wicked ramp sends as well bro🚀🚀👍😯 That's some killer M2C beef ya got there brother.... Thanks so much Brother Dennis 😜. Stoked to find some new spots recently 👀. Haven't bashed the other one just yet. Definitely tricky avoiding those bushes and trees. So glad to finally have the Goliath Series on the EXB. She handles way better without the tower brace 👌. Puts the grams down low and has that extra strength to handle anything 😍. Have to dial the V3 in with the ZRS setup again. Just too plush not too. I had swapped the old set onto the EXB. Every basher needs a Kraton 😱!!!! Maybe not perfect bone stock, but insane when dressed up right. The diff rebuilds and fresh bearings opened the EXB right up. Huge thanks to Mitch for transforming the bash game with M2C 🥰🤙🤙😎💪👊👊

Cleaning the connectors and getting the diffs and bearings dialed again made a HUGE difference 👌. She's hauling ass with zero drag. The V3 felt great too, but I knew that cell was going and it finally crapped the bed 😂. It's been cold here too and the wind chill sucks!!!! Missing the Sacramento heat already 😋🔥🔥. Thanks so much Jessie 🤗. It's possible your steering drag link (Ackerman) screws are too loose allowing excessive play when cornering, or your saver is the issue. @@johnlincoln4616 you could go either way. The EXB is stronger, but M2C is next level 💪. I like both the standard RTR and LSD diffs 🤔. You could go V5 and upgrade as you go. If you don't have spare electronics and plan on upgrading regardless, V5 might make more sense. Just plan on alloy chassis braces pretty early if your hitting sizable mounds and jumps. 👍

Found I'd left my Firma on punch 3 after the firmware update 👀. Cleaning my connectors and motor had her revving up nicely with perfect peak temps 👌. Honestly felt better than ever. The new spot is pretty sweet 🥰. Just gotta roll the throttle to stay out of the trees 🤣🤣. Body is getting reinforced and new Lipos arrived. They take such a hammering with huge sends and hits. Regarding the screw that locks the chassis brace to the chassis. Do you or recommend drilling out the threads in the chassis brace? I’m wondering if the threads even matter since the screw is also secured with a lock nut.

It's not that imperative that these braces are threaded do long as the nut is kept tight. I do recommend using grade 12.9 chassis support screws though. I get mine from MonsterBolts.com. M4 x 20mm. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Been bashing the V5 for the past month. All I’ve done so far to it. is get M2C standoffs for shock, and better shock rod ends. Where should I start with “beefing” it up? The M2C front and rear shock towers was my guess, although not too sure

I would start with the chassis braces, servo mount, and an EXB, Tbone, or RPM front bumper. The M2C towers are a wonderful upgrade 😍. Great call on the standoffs 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Brother 🤗. No real trick to landing bigger airs. Just want to level off kinda early and keep the wheelspin with the pace of the truck. Best to touchdown on all 4's or slightly fronts first. That helps minimize the bounce effect. Takes some practice to hone in the timing, but you have more time mid-air to adjust with bigger sends. 😎💪👊👊

Hi Rich, help me out Im confused about the chassis . I bought EVERYTHING m2c for my 6s kraton exb. But the chassis I got seems different . No ball bearing on the droop ears and the droop ears look like they may restrict movement of the suspension arm. Have you seen the v2 m2c 3000 chassis ? Same as your exb ? Thx peace !

Hey Jordan 🤗. Mitch redesigned the rear portion of the chassis to accommodate the bigger EXB arms. They have a similar bulge as the Mojave arms that wouldn't clear the original Kraton/Outcast stock chassis shape properly. If you compare a stock Mojave chassis, you'll notice the rear is cut differently near the chassis ears. Same with the EXB. The new shape should work and allow proper arm droop for all the models 👍. Mitch purposely eliminated the steel balls because RPM didn't locate their droop screws in the same stock position as ARRMA. This caused countless complaints for guys running RPM arms directed at M2C Racing. The thing is you don't need the balls if you're running button head or mushroom style head droop screws. They don't pit the chassis like standard RTR grub screws. I don't have the new V2 chassis to compare myself. Just sharing all the tidbits I know about the change in chassis design. I had to grind and file my V1 Goliath Series chassis's to accommodate both Mojave and EXB arms myself. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hi Rich I'm loving my new Kraton 6s working on throttle control , do you have any tips or tricks to driving rc's? I'm getting a program card like you have for your spektrum esc. No major breaks yet and i've been out in the snow where I am. I got all the basic upgrades alloy braces and suspension blocks front and rear, I vented my tires as well as put on the 15t pinion only running 4s to start off. Thanks for all the bashing and bench tips on making a kraton tough as hell.

Thanks so much Steve 🤗. Happy to hear about your K6s 😜. Sounds like you're doing it right Brother. Adjust to the handling and go at your own pace with her. Snow driving is a different experience of course. These rigs are fast as heck with optimal traction 👀. Throttle control simply takes time and practice. Listening to the motor and wheelspin is important. Your trigger finger with begin making smoother yet faster adjustments and corrections with time. I recommend not setting the brake too high on the ESC. Makes things too touchy in the air and easy to lawn dart 🤣. I try to keep my wheelspin with the pace of the car on landings. That's best for the diffs anyways. Practice is the only way to improve throttle control in the end. Running different size rigs regularly helps hone in your overall timing better too. Lighter, smaller rigs with shorter wheelbases are the most challenging. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks Brother. The bash bars will strengthen the stock chassis no question. The downside is lost ground clearance. Not certain on it's weight, but the stock chassis plus the bar is probably the same as a Goliath Series chassis minus the absolute lateral strength and memory. I'll keep my setup. 😎💪👊👊

Hey Sam 🤗. You will enjoy more power with a Max6 or Hexfly Hex6 no question. Nothing wrong with a Max8, but you'll get more from a 160A ESC. 😎💪👊👊

I just got a kraton 6s and has a real blast on it’s first run out, just driving it around on grass and blacktop. No jumps or anything like that and I noticed a little drop of grease came from the center diff, Is that normal?

It's not uncommon for these RTR's to come with either underfilled or sometimes leaky diffs. I would check the fluid level or atleast make sure the diff cup screws are snugged down. One unevenly tightened screw will allow the gasket to leak. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hey I’m just getting into somewhat bashing rc cars and I want to know what the best bang for my buck would be. I will be bashing at like bike parks and in the snow. Which one would you prefer for my type of bashing ya talion 6s or Kraton 6s.

That's awesome Levi 😜. The Talion sits a bit lower than the Kraton, but could still do well in packed snow. The stock Katar tires hook up great having little scoops in the treads. Honestly, either rig would work, but I generally think everyone should own a Kraton 6s for all around bashing. 🍻😎💪👊👊

@@richduperbash2966 Yeah I'm glad he got a toughy, its only his second car, I told him to start with a FS Marauder because I found them to be easily the strongest budget bashers, i have one that i DIYed the hell out of and it keeps going🤯 with the exception of a super weak alloy chassis but 😏 a XO1 6061 chassis fixed that 😅 And that lipo destruction problem, I can only afford cheap batts (semi good) but yeah, a thin bit foam is not gunna do the job for me anymore! 🙄🤘👍

I'm running a 22T with the 1480 and 20T with the 1730 😍. Both motors rip hard. Can't say I have a favorite. 😎💪👊👊

What tires are you running on your kratons? I have a v3 kraton that has the dboot minokawa tires. They balloon almost twice there size. Looking for more stability then tires that drift all over. Awesome bash location.

Thanks so much David 🤗. I'm running dboots Backflips on my EXB (my favorites 😍) and the Kraton V4-5 Copperhead 2's on my V3. The older Minokawas pretty much suck for everything but the skatepark. Make sure to vent your tires and tune the diffs (heavier center fluids) to control ballooning. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks Simon 🤗. Some guys use hardened drill blanks and cut their own. Removing slop from the outdrives/diffs definitely seems to help. I use Mugen Seiki E0206 shims under the planetary gears. Also use Tekno tkr1222 bearing shims on the crown gear side. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Awesome Rich. What fluids are you running again in your EXB sounds cherry smooth every pass. I just got gears for my rear diff some how my EXB rear diff chewed up the gasket and missed up the gears. I'm using 10k 500k and 50k front to rear.

Thanks so much Paul 🤗. I'm running 50/200/20k front to rear in my EXB and 500k center in my V3. The LSD diffs don't really need heavier fluids. Not sure if you'd heard some earlier EXB's had rear diff shimming issues. ARRMA instated a new planetary spacer to remedy any shim tolerance issues with the rear open diff. I haven't gotten them yet so I can't give an opinion myself. Decided to run my own RTR instead. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hey I’m new to Arrma trucks and I’m very interested in the Kraton 4s but I’m wondering how Lipo works with it? I know Lipo works with it but I’d like to know if it has something like Lipo cut off. I’ve only had traxxas cars before and most of them have Lipo cut off (too my knowledge). Basically I’ve been told that Lipo batteries shouldn’t go below 30% or they’ll be damaged and might blow so I’m wondering if the Kraton 4s has something along the lines of Lipo cut off

Hey Brother 👊. All the ARRMA rigs ESC's have Lipo cutoff programmed out of the box. You can change settings manually with different paremeters, but they come ready to go. Just don't run Lipos past LVC. That's what shortens their useful life. Store them at 3.8V and don't let them drop below 3.2V. 😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Brother 😜. I've used supports under the motor before, but generally don't. I just make sure the chassis braces are well fitted with healthy hardware 💪. My thinking is a solid support can crank the motor upwards with chassis flex too. I do incur some slight contact on the endbell sometimes, but nothing of consequence with the M2C chassis's 🍻😎💪👊👊

i'm gonna need a refresher on shock tuning i think. it's my favorite part to work on. my bottom shock ends like to break on my 6S Fliptorious. shock oil may be too thick. dunno. i'm using 815 front and back. need to wait for some bankroll before i get the bladderless system.

Shocks make such a HUGE difference in handling and performance 😍. The ZRS bladderless set-up is the best I've ever seen 👀. No one on the planet has designed an O ring style piston like M2C. Valved pistons don't come close to the same level of performance. The best way to stop breaking rods ends is to upgrade to ARRMA Nero HD and use 6.8mm steel pivot balls (ARRMA or Tekno). More than beef, you have to adjust the droop screws so the arms don't yank downwards on the shocks and rod ends. You lose some down travel, but that's how it's done. Oil viscosity isn't as important for sparing rod ends. The Kraton comes with 1000cst stock. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks Charles 🤗. The MX28's don't handle 6s without major ballooning. The best technique I found was strapping them with 50lb Gorilla Braid, 2 rows per tire (between the treads), 3 wraps per row. I tacked them down with CA glue around the entire surface. The wheels keep their form and it's much lighter than running belted tires. I came to really like them despite being a bit stiffer. 🍻😎💪👊👊

I just swap the stock planetary shims for Mugen Seiki E0206 in all 3 diffs and add Tekno tkr1222 bearing shims to the front and rear crown gear side bearing. Usually run 2-3 shims total. 🍻😎💪👊👊

CONGRATS on the V5 😍. I would advance the punch up to 9 and throw on a 16T Robinson Racing Extra Hard pinion #1216. Diffs I'd run 50/500/20k front to rear. Make sure to get alloy chassis braces, servo mount, and an EXB, Tbone, or RPM front bumper. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Batteries are weird, I had 2 3S that I got go bad the same day. Shop batteries even not Amazon specials which I've gotten more life out of. Oh well you never know I guess same with my Drone Batteries. If a cell drops the Drone might very well just drop out of the sky. One thing for sure, you bash with such certainity. I don't think I could ever be as good with a Truck as you are Rich. No forests around us only farm fields, otherwise I'd hunt for trails like that to break things on, LOL.

Thanks Brother 🤗. She was hauling ass and feeling dialed again after the rebuild 😍. I rolled into a tree that last clip in the woods (downhill blind landing) and cracked a front arm 😂. That was my only breakage. Did find my rear chassis support screw had snapped after the ramp hits. I usually change them with grade 12.9, but that one was probably from Home Depot 😜🍻😎💪👊👊

Max6 is great 👍. I like both motors about equally. The 1730 does great with a 20T. The 1480 needs a 22-23T. 🍻😎💪👊👊

@@harisbennington4058 I haven't tried it, but most people are happy with Leopard. Only detail is the motor endbell. They use to be tapped for only M3 fasteners, not M4 like comes standard with ARRMA mounts. Guys have had to drill and tap theirs for a stronger setup. 🍻

Which idk how they can when there is a few different designs used for servo savers. I can't find parts for my late fathers Helion Invictus thats not in Australia. Thanks Damion 👊. I've always kept the hubs stock, partly because they don't bust often enough to upgrade. The other big turnoff is weight. Aluminum hubs add significant grams to the front end.. That takes from agility and can contribute to other breakages overall. My philosophy is to add only essential upgrades. If you upgrade everything to something heavier, you'll end up with a poor performing rig and straining your electronics. 😎💪👊👊
