My outcast EXB 8s rear arm broke for the first time yesterday. But it was a bad landing and it was below freezing outside. I was going to go RPM but now I'm just gonna go stock again

I found that using the gpm aluminium arms all round has saved me a lot more money in the long run.. yeah I know what you'll be thinking, metal usually makes another part vulnerable. The only parts I break now when landing on one wheel is a hinge pin will snap, due to the no flex at all I've noticed that now, I never get bent drive shafts, shock shafts and no bend links 👍 due to the wait of this car plastic arms or not good it just can't take a bad landing without breaking.

Definitely agree with your reasoning. I remember some interview with like Colin McRae and his crew chief one of the things I took from it was “Engineered Failure” when they were talking about what it takes to finish a stage in that case some part of the strut assembly was designed to collapse and fail and it was a simple swap to fix when it didn’t fail because a stronger part was used they found themselves swapping control arms and either fixing or replacing subframes and a few other parts costing more time to repair. In RC I remember the hay day of Nitro Monster Trucks and all the aluminum people were throwing at those trucks trying to make them indestructible 🤦‍♂️

I only use rpm front lower control arms on my Outcast 8s. I use stock arms in the rear. I rarely break those. Heck, even the front ones rarely break on both my Outcast 8s and EXB K8S.

The 1/5 seems too heavy. They need to scale down the 1/5 engineering to the 1/8 line and they'd be perfect.

In my opinion the causing of breaking suspension links is very complex! Often there appeared 10 or much more bad landings you hit boulders, roots and other things like that. Is anybody counting how many times you nearly broke a link? 🤔 i don’t! Even in the moment it cracks i cannot tell the exact influences- except it was much over the 🔝 😳 Sometimes stuff breaks and I absolutely agree to better break cheap parts! Btw the mail from rpm is a joke to me: these front hubs just seem too soft in higher temperatures.! I think this could be a fair answer. I watch a guy from germany who just fitted them to his Xmaxx maybe it’s working here.? Very good video again Earl! Thank you for sharing your experience all the time!

I see and agree from what I can watch in your videos! This is true for the outcast. It’s the style and construction of a heavier buggyfied truck instead of the Xmaxx what makes the difference in durability i think 🤔 Would like to tell all my thoughts on that, but it’s too much for a comment! Even more as you may remember I’m not a native speaking. So at least I want you to know that I feel very pleased you’re answering my comments instead there are so many more subscribers! Okay I kind of get what your saying but fact is even with the arrma stock arms you can destroy shocks all day long from a bad crash ot hitting a pole or thin tree and even if it rolls if the arm brakes and continues to role down a hill it's proper carnage I mean i watched the video it was such a small role and the thing broke like wtf.. however I fully get what your saying in regards to the rpm arm having too much flexibility but there's things you can do to prevent the forward backwards flexibility and the up down flexibility in regards to restricting it without reducing the durability of the arms but then design engineers understands the physics and solutions and often has access to machinery to make the sample to Q.C it and durability test like I have... I wouldn't be happy having to constantly fix a car every time it was taken out and rolled that's crazy fact is you can make a case for anything if you really wanted too with a bias agenda I just couldn't justify those weak arms I mean if it took a proper tumble your gonna break a lot more then just the arm and suspension, talking about suspension you can adjust the suspension to work in favour of the rpms also 😅 I think I might have too make a video showing a how too showing how one part can improve the rpm arms for 5th scale use without compromised strength. Fact is arrma arms are brittle rpms are not and as you said if you had a way to limit the front to back movement flexibility. Which I have designed a concept and tested 😉
