I got mine today and put a 140 amp SCT 8 HW. 21 TOOTH PINION 82 KIMBROUGH SPUR WITH A HPI 2250 FLUX SCREAM MOTOR AND A 4 S LIPO 6000MAH 3 FANS AND A WATERPROOF BEC CASTLE CREATIONS. IM HITTING 63MPH WITH PANTHER 1/8TH SCALE TRUGGY TIRES. I DIDN'T LIKE ARRMA IM SPONCORED BY OFNA BUT LOVE THIS TRAXXAS KILLER. ITS SUPER SIMPLE AND FAST, FUN SC TRUCKS IS WHAT STARTED THIS SECOND MORTGAGE CRISIS...JK CLOSE THOUGH. HAVEN'T HAD SINCE 08 WHEN THE BLITZ AND TRAXX ASS CAME OUT.

I use a 12mm hex on mine and run proline holeshots for local track racing. Also, i went to a 32p gearing. Just replace the center diff with 1 out of the 3s blx senton. I had to do the 32p gearing because im running a mamba monster x, 6s esc and a spektrum 3300kv motor. The 42p gears just wouldnt hold up under race conditions. Swapping out the stock shocks for proline powerstrokes will completely change your trucks handling. By far the best upgrade. Nice build. Thanks for the video.

There is a 12mm hex you can put on the Arrma and it works fine. Its a Duratrax dtxc3596. I use them and they work just as well as stock.

I wound up using some Traxxas 12 mm hexes and drilled them out to fit the axles on that truck. Now I'm able to run Duratrax SC tires.

Doing the math with your setup, it should top out at 28.6mph on 2S and 42.8mph on 3S. Would take a bit to get it to 50mph. What speeds did you end up getting? Curious b/c I'm building a 2S Typhon Mega for track use. Just looking to get in the high 20's to 30mph. My track isn't big enough to really go much faster.

a newbie saying "I wish I bought a traxxas" is usually because they went to a hobbyshop and told them what they broke on their "insert name" brand RC and they get told that they should have bought a traxxas. Traxxas makes good stuff, but even Redcat has some stuff that dollar for dollar will put a traxxas to shame. Basically every brand puts crap servos in their RTR batteries. Traxxas and arrma love those plastic drive shafts...those need to go. I just bought a senton mega for my son...I may drop a cheap hobbywing 1/10 scale brushless system into it later on, so that it will actually be able to do 30mph then. This is a decent size truck to run a 550 brushed motor.

The esc limits the voltage to the servo so it doesn't matter what battery you use

Check the stirring link bushings. Probably worn out with that much slop. Also blx runs mod 0.8 gears. Thicker teeth

The larger Pinion adds top speed ..It doesn't slow it down.

It will also stress your motor, trans and heat up. I say go with stock and work your spur first and slipper. Then lock your slipper and then pinion up 2 teeth and LISTEN to your buggy it's like your real car it will let you know. Untill you master nitro's you will never learn how to gear right.

Stock this truck is shit. The first day the servo gave out, randomly while plugging in the battery (instant smoke), apparently this caused and ESC/motor issue. My LHS replaced the servo, the same day when I returned replaced the ESC and the Motor as those were compromised. We tested other batteries etc to be sure. The next day the motor overheated relentlessly, now its 3 days later and 10minutes of driving = motor overheat. I've driven in the yard, driven at the local bmx track, driven on a dirt walking trail behind my house..... it overheats any which way. I'm not impressed. The shocks have already begun to leak with 40 minutes of use, not badly but still. I remember why I left R/C 6 years ago in the first place. Traxxas has never impressed me either. They both make the minimum they can pass off to the moronic general consumer. A fan boy of either brand is like comparing Myle Cyrus to Justin Beiber, that is ..... having the discussion at all makes you a raging homosexual. Now if that's your thing, cool. :)
