I have both. I hate to say it but I prefer the 3s. Its lower weight makes a world of a difference in handling and agility. The top speed honestly doesn’t matter IMO. But running a 6s pack or two 3s in it weighs it down a lot and makes it a little more heavier on one side.
@BoyFindsTako

I’ve owned both, I prefer the 3s typhon. It’s lighter, more nimble and it rips the 6s platform is metal chassis vs the plastic 3s, my point...the 6s is super heavy for its size and doesn’t handle well compared to the 3s platform. But if you want to do speed runs and hit the straight aways, get the 6s Typhon. But to rip around and have fun, 3s hands down.

Im here about to getting the arrma typhon 3s bcause of the budget..and i even have to sold my current vrx buggy 1/10 to buy that arrma..i wanted to big rock at 1st bcs of its durability and fluidity , but then stock here ain't that much in my place so i have to choose other because i wanted a arrma rc..then i saw this 3s seems really fascinating to me..but again 6s are better but its over my budge..
@BoyFindsTako
@BoyFindsTako 3 жыл бұрын
@@devillovexxx Why do you think 6s is better? Sometimes more isn’t better, there is a con with 6s and it’s weight. Any 3s platform can run circles around any 6s heavy set up...and it’s “faster” to respond when it comes to agility. 6s on a straight away is faster no doubt, but then trying to turn that 6s truck/buggy/truggie with an open throttle, you won’t be able to catch that 3s platform on the street in any turn. Everyone always values speed and power so much and overlooks weight. 3s rips and has an overall balance to the overall platform if set up correctly. Buy the Arrma that makes the most sense to your driving style. The buggy sits lower to the ground and is more limited to terrain but the Granite and Big Rock sit up higher and have more clearance so you can drive over more crazy conditions. Any Arrma is going to be sick, so...get your Arrma and charge that thing up and start bashing.

They are both awesome, but I own 2 of the 3s Typhons. I would rather have 3s if you buy 2 3s batteries you can have twice the fun then with 1 6s battery. Buy 6s shocks for the 3s Typhon and put a Stock Granite bumper on the front and you will have a good rig. The t-bone bumpers for the Typhon 3s are a total failure I have broke at least 6 hinge pin blocks. The most recent ones tbone send were thicker but then the screws just ripped out so i'm putting my stock granite front bumper back on it.

The shocks on the ARRMA Typhon are heavily exposed. If you upgrade the shocks but keep the plastic tower all that's going to happen when you crash or land hard is all that impact stress will transfer to your plastic shock tower and you'll just snap that off. Done it myself plenty with that combo. Either do it all metal or keep it plastic and replace cheaply often.

I originally back ordered the Typhon 3S & when I saw the details on the 6S, I canceled my 3S order & purchased the 6S. Should be getting that on Monday, can't wait. 1st thing to get upgraded & already on order is the receiver, the controller for this car is garbage. I have a Radiolink RC4GS controller that I use on my Rustler, so I ordered the R7FG receiver, which has telemetry function as well, to drop into the Typhon. One controller to rule them all lol. Wish RPM had more parts available for the Typhon 6S. Hopefully they'll get more in the near future, at least the A-Arms.

@@paulmeier6585 I did also get the 6s but if I'm honest I have only driven it on the road. I swapped to higher gears and Felony rear tires (all 4) and made a high speed pavement car out of it. As vehicles, they're completely incomparable except the appearances. I think the 3s is overall the better basher due to the flexibility of the plastic, low cost (and frequency) of repairs, and cheaper batteries. The only reason I would do the 6s as a basher is if you really have a desire for all that extra power. In my opinion, the 3s is... Rather spicy especially with the 20t pinion and I didn't need to go faster than 70mph off-road, so I made the 6s Ty a street car. Hope this helps!

I just bought the 3s. I think it’s the better deal for the money. I bought a 20t pinion and a set of big bore aluminum shocks with it and it’s still much less than the price of the 6s but will do over 50 mph putting it very close to the 6s. I like the wheels and tires better on the 3s as well. Any other upgrades can come slowly over time so it’s not as much all at once.

own a few of each of these (v3's though) and you cant go wrong with either, unless speed running i would go with the 6s if i could only pick one, i feel the weight differences are overblown (its around 800 grams stock) and not that noticeable in the field but the build quality between the two is. actually managed to bend the 6s front shock yesterday can imagine what that would of done to the front end of my 3s.

So for me at least it makes sense to get The 6s. If I could I would get the both of them. X

krypt onite I’ve bought one finally, I’ve not used it yet as I’m waiting for a bit better weather to practice in. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve bought 2x2 7000 50s to start with then I’ve got the 6s ready in the wings all set to go. I’ve got to wimp out on the weather a bit as my body ain’t so good in the cold as when I was younger plus all the injuries and broken bits haunt me and remind me what an idiot I’ve been. Lol , God Bless x

F C check out todays video of my Granite 4x4 4S Blx! Note note 3S! I've fitted the 4s setup from the 4s outcast. It's my second granite, they both had/have plastic driveshafts, but I've ordered some HR ones to cope with the 4S power. And yes the 3s typhon is similar in layout/parts to the granite. I had the very first brushless granite conversion on YT several years back as I got one of the very first brushed granites in North Americe

@@DriftomaniacsRC yeah that’s kinda what I’m getting a sense of. I already have a big rock v3 I enjoy but it does wheelie a bit and it seems like the typhon 3s has a bit of a tendency to try to wheelie where the 6s doesn’t. I’m thinking I may sell off my redcat landslide and try to get a radix 4 or typhon 6s.

6s for us... pure sobbery!! We can't look at a plastic shock tower and feel like ripping... some aspects of performance and durability may be better with 25% weight reduction and great 3s plastics... Our 3s vorteks rips and looks good too with a repainted body that covers the cheesy looking tower and shocks... but not the same for the typhon 3s... exposed grey plastic shocks and tower say toy- grade!!!!! But again, it's mostly just the emotional feel... also that screaming metal drivetrain on 6s is heartpoundingly thrilling for speed runs... my guy friend had a 6s in 2014 at 84mph... blew a tire one 60mph pass, pulled way off the road, cartwheeled over 4 yards, and hit a Honda CRV... $1,700 body damage to the Honda... nothing but a couple scratches on the typhon... and he recalls he paid $379 new!! Still at 5 or 6 hundred bucks, it's well worth it.... even up to $800 heavily modified for sick performance, this buggy is way worth it!!! Virtually no upper limit!! But if you don't mind the cheaper look, the squeaky drivetrain, at least the 3s price nicely reflects the less expensive parts without sacrifice to mid and low end handling, if not an improvement!!! Unlike Track's ass the price makes sense for plastic!! We stubbornly won't even buy the great performing Ass of Traxx Xmaxx because it looks and sounds like a plastic toy until it's flying... and even 20 feet in the air it's a total ripoff in terms of the actual value you get at $1K...

In my opinion there TSM. Sucks. I have a Xmaxx and a 4x4 rustler and the TSM has to be off for the trucks to perform. With TSM on it's a crap shot trying to do backflip or even spin them around. I think arrma has built a better RC than Traxxas but Traxxas has the market for now

I think the spektrum AVC is a lot better than tsm and I may go so far as to fit an AVC receiver to one of my arrmas, as the AVC on my big 1/5 losi's is very impressive. For flips on the erevo 2.0 anr rustler 4x4 vxl I turned the TSM down to zero. Let me know if you'd like to see me put AVC on one of my 6S arrmas. If enough people say yes I'll try it.

I got a 3S simply because this design is begging for breakage. Exposed shocks, exposed wheels with no bumper. It's almost not worth getting a 6S because you WILL break it, A LOT. And is much harder to work on.

6S typhon is bullet proof compared to 3s one, I should know as I've owned every version V1-V4. 6S version has all metal drivetrain and doesn't eat diffs like the 3S one. Although you raise a good point that the 3s is easier to work on. Only one of my 6s typhons to ever break was one that hit a curb head on a 73mph...other than that no breakages. Sold my granite 3s blx as it was forever eating diffs and driveshafts. I'd recommend a used typhon 6s to see what you think

Steven I would always say go for the 6s ones particularly if you fancy making a 3s one go faster, by the time you've strengthened it to handle any extra power it'll add to what it would have cost to get the 6s one. I've had all four versions of the Typhon and loved everyone. I may get another coming out of quarantine although I think Traxxas are ready to drop a big release but are holding back until the situation eases
