Never heard him speak outside of his American roles, so I was never sure if his American accent was genuine. Certainly sounded that way. Now I know! Haha. Certainly American with an ever-so-subtle hint of Scottish.

Wait, at the end he says that he's up on the mountain and it's cold. But Malcolm Merlyn wasn't at Nanda Parbat on the mountain in the Midseason Finale. So, what if the man who finds Oliver in the promo for 3.10 is Merlyn?

I always expect John to have a Scottish accent because I've known he was Scottish but I forget that his American acting voice is his normal voice for the most part.

My idea is that Arrow Season 3 episode "Nanda Parbat" is going to either be 1) a Malcolm Merlyn backflash/backstory about how Malcolm Merlyn first arrived there after his wife died and trained under R'as al Ghul, or conversely, 2) about Malcolm brokering a deal with R'as al Ghul to get rid of Sarah Lance in exchange for a reprieve from the death sentence R'as declared because of Malcolm's unapproved Undertaking.

I agree. Most of the camera angles and lighting are arranged/adjusted so as to show him in the worse possible way. I guess they do so because they don't want their audience to be swooning over him instead of over other cast members.

+Übermensch du Vogel In real life, JB was born in 1967 but Merlyn's DOB is listed as 1960 (to compensate for Tommy's age). And a suit over a T-Shirt ages any man. And it isn't as if Merlyn gets to smile or laugh very often... So, yeah: He looks older in the show for good reason.

While he has several, I believe the one he's wearing is the Breitling divers watch that was either a gift to himself or from his husband, Scott. Both used to be advid scuba divers.

I don't like how actors refer to their characters as a third person..totally takes away the immersion.

That's something that some actors are taught to do. I know in my acting class we were told that from day one. There's a couple of reasons for this. First off it's used as a system to allow the viewer to know that the actor is not his or her character. For example if an actor always plays a dick in "insert a movie, play, or TV show", it's very easy for the viewer to think that actor is just like his or hers character, when that person could be nothing like the character. Second, it's a way to keep the actor's ego in check. When an actor thinks he or she is their character, it can get to them or at least it can go straight to their head.
