Nice looking setup Robert. We used to raise shorthorns . We had Holsteins for dairy. One thing I learned is to not get kicked by a shorthorn. A Holstein will pop you in the kneecap. A shorthorn will try for a field goal on the moon. You talked about the one steer that didn’t want to cooperate. In my experience with cattle and hogs, there is always that one. Always

Haha ya some of the short horn cows were a little frisky. Never been around Holsteins. I'd just prefer to not be kicked at all lol.

Nice purchase on the Arrowquip. One of the best setups for cattle chutes I have seen at the Keystone Farm Show and Ag Progess Days.

I was really impressed with it compared to some of the others I looked at. With the sale they had going on we couldn't pass it up. We're happy to have it.

Learning that it’s not lazy to make things easier. It makes you better and healthier animals. Your time is worth something and that should be a reward at the end of the day.

There is nothing wrong with your set up. If you are not going to have a huge herd what you have will work. If you ever decide to do it looks like you have room for a partial or quarter sweep that would funnel them right into your chute. You may just have play with it to get to to fit just right. In the meantime what you have seems to work pretty well for the couple of head that you have. Congratulations on your pen setup and Arrowquip Chute!!

Thanks for the comment. I never thought about a quarter sweep, that may get them moving in the right direction. Thanks for watching!

One of the things we found out with pole barns is that they are pretty easy to make longer but more difficult to make wider. If you have to choose, go wider.

You can always use the extra panels. I like your videos, but you need to make more of them.

How often do you work 2 head? I'd maybe consider just taking it all down between times so you are not wasting so much space. Also them arrow pannels are expensive, doesn't take many of them to be the same price as a 8 or 10 foot arrow ally.

I took most of it down. The chute lretty much stays there, as I can still get the hay wagon in and out. I won some Arrowquip equipment, so going to try out some of their new lighter weight panels, I have a bunch of uses for them around here.
