I have sometimes thought all this Wenger nearly got was a bit over the top, but watching this, that was a shocking list of players to miss out on. It seems like Wenger missed out a lot in the early 2000s and hasn't really recovered since. Missing out on Ronaldo must have been a huge blow.

Literally any team can claim "oh we could've signed so and so but didn't" It a load of nonsense. Ever think about most of those players most likely rejecting Arsenal anyway. Its not like they were all destined to go there to begin. Just because a team bids a certain amount for a player/players doesn't mean they almost have them. Not even those players who arrive in the country for negotiations with the club is it still guaranteed. Its only when the player puts pen to paper on the contract that he is officially signing for that club. Clubs are businesses and in business terms there is no such thing as "nearly" signing up for a Company. You either put pen to paper on an official contract or not. Its that simple.
