This is the perfect match Ian. Steph is brilliant at this. Insight, knowledge and eloquence and no talking in clichés. I could listen to you both for hours. This is different level discussion and as you both did as players you are raising the bar. Steph has to be utilised in some kind of coaching role if she ever chooses to do so, but you two together is wonderful. Would love to hear what Steph thinks about Taylor not tactically changing when they went 2-1 up against Arsenal to see out the game. He failed to do this in the game against Arsenal at the end of last season which meant they lost the title. Agree with Ian I am a Palace Fan ( saw you make your debut for us) and watching Spurs v Palace especially the 2nd half really concerned me. Fear that the Chelsea game may turn into a Liverpool result ( nightmare 1989 game!! ). I'd like to see Atkinson start and we have to unleash Poppy Pritchard but we can only hope we remember how we played against Chelsea in the FA Cup last year. Regarding your comment about the commentators I totally agree, however there is one co commentator who stands out for me as the best and it is Gilly Flaherty. She sees things that all others miss and says it as it is regardless of who it is and never talks in clichés. Like yourselves very impressive. Totally agree about Keating. Also what is Laura Blindkilde Brown doing at City now? How does she fit in? Wasted talent like Morgan, Mace, Park (until Roord got injured) and Caroline Weir ( how good is she and has bounced back from ACL straight back in world class form).

For the first time ever, four British clubs in the Champions League with Celtic, Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Absolutely brilliant for the British women’s football. Paradise, The Emirates, The Etihad and Stamford Bridge is a must in order to take the game to the next level. I also hope there can be a broadcast deal in place to simulcast the games with a national broadcaster, maybe BBC and ITV. Next season we’ll have UCL expansion and Europa League both of which will be the same format as the men’s competition. Not to mention the FIFA Club World Cup in 2026. We want to see more of our women competing at the highest level, on the big stages in the big stadiums. We’re starting to see this at domestic level, hopefully this will be the catalyst to make this the norm for all teams.

Steph, you legend.....please can you spare some of your valuable time to offer Coaching to Rochdale AFC Ladies? Don't forget Stephen was a bit of a hero at Spotland when he was there!!! Good luck to both of you and hope the lad is coping well.

Ian I am not sure if you read the comments but in my other comment before last nights Palace Chelsea game I wrote " Fear that the Chelsea game may turn into a Liverpool result ( nightmare 1989 game!! )" which sadly it did. You played in that 1989 game and will completely understand how the Palace players are feeling today. Devastated, embarrassed, humiliated and questioning if they belong at this level etc. When you played the best team in the country Liverpool ( possibly Europe ) in 1989 after we had reached the 1st Division ( premier league of the time) no one gave us a chance. I remember wearing my Palace shirt the very next day after the 9 -0 defeat with pride and defiance. People laughed at me insulted me, but I did not care, because I still believed and loved my club, but I was not a player so did not feel what you all must have been feeling to have lived through the match . The comments and responses after last nights 7-0 loss are writing Palace off yet as with the 9-0 defeat in 1989 there were glimmers of hope. Yes certain players looked lost, out of place, but there were others who looked like they started to realise they did belong at this level and we should really have scored 2-3 goals. Like Coppell the manager is having to learn fast and should have made changes at half time such as taking Gijl off and bringing on Weerden or Atkinson to stretch Chelsea's oddly shaky looking defence. Poppy Pritchard should have come on earlier as she will get goals.....she reminds me of you Ian in her speed, and lethal finishing with both feet and a nightmare for defenders. What I believe is they need to know that this result can be over come just you and Palace so gloriously did ( yes you may not have played, but you did in that final!! ) and revenge was the sweetest and best day as a Palace fan when we beat Liverpool at Villa park that very season to stop them winning the double and getting to our first an best Cup final. I think the players need to be informed of this history and shown those games. If at all possible it would have a major impact coming from you telling this history due to your connection with the womens game and your involvement in the story. They also may need to know that Spurs got thrashed 7-0 by Liverpool in their first season back in the top league in the late 70's and Spurs went on to win the FA Cup twice a few seasons later and then the Cup Winners cup and the spurs side that was defeated included what turned out to be probably one of the best ever English players Glenn Hoddle, so History shows us that these results should not be the end of the world, but lessons for both the manager and players and the learn train and move on. The have some very talented young players who need to believe and Palace have the coaching staff be it either in the mens team or womens to solve this. As a Palace fan I ask if you have or can spare the time Ian could you speak or visit the Palace team to tell them of this history as coming from you it could be massive for these players and staff? For me a defensive coach needs to be in place to drill the players and possibly even use a Libero. Fast paced wingers Aikinson, Weerden who can defend too need to be played and Poppy needs to be a starter. Pace would have caused more issues to Chelsea last night as we failed to exploit our chances. Unless your wingers know how to play a 5 4 1 which Gijl clearly did not then they are a liability as she was for many of the goals. For me Ian you are the greatest Player I have ever seen playing for Palace and when you left us it was because you were destined for far more glorious things than we could ever give you and when you achieved those it was with immense pride as a Palace fan that we have given you the opportunity as club to start that journey. The Palace women are hurting after last night could you help them in some way please? crowd of 5000+ is still an amazing crowd considering the price of tickets compared to other clubs. Shame Ultras did not turn up like they did for final game of last season.

thanks for speaking about the commentators. they repeatedly called Crystal Palace Bristol yesterday! how do they mess up this bad?? the product and quality of the football is there but the coms keep damaging the viewing experience. I sometimes wish I could turn the commentary off and just listen to the atmosphere instead. especially dazn‘s they are the most insufferable.

In Manchester and Ian has a Cheshire Cat smile. I enjoy listening to these two. Steph's husband not only played for my home city of Bradford, but he also knew the late Rob Burrow, who I knew through friends. I really wished she had won the league last season, but good to see her still smiling too. P.S. Since I mentioned Rob, here is his pal Kevin. kzbin.infozuArmddGmsI?si=Qd-9RdmT7KsV8ZAJ

Arsenal seems to be a team that hasn´t so much hierarchy, where everybody are good guys.. That fits a swede, remember Freddy Ljungberg...? A lot of celebrities cheer for Arsenal like Colin Firth and Mick Jagger.. It´s like the team you cheer on defines you in British society... Go Arsenal go! My swedish favourite team is Malmö FF.
