Hi Charles. Have you heard the latest episode of The Rest Is Football pod? Lineker and Co's admiration of Martinez heroic display for Villa v Bayern and how brilliant his "shithousery" was when he pulled up with a fake hamstring injury in the final minutes. They truly thought it was comical. Shearer even saying "everyone does it". Yet only last week, 10 men Arsenal against the best team in Europe were at the end of a media driven campaign against all things bad regarding the Dark Arts of football! The hipocriocity is insane and blatant for all to see. For a man of 50, I really shouldn't let this wind me up, but it is so frustrating. Hello Charles, I think as we head into the international break, if the same players who started against Leicester and PSG are all fit, I would start the same team. Tomiyasu being back is a bonus if Ben White is still out, as he can cover across the entire back line. Merino is another positive, now back in contention. Great times ahead!

It’s not that he can’t play 6. It’s that we have Partey, a better 6 ahead of him, allowing Rice to carry the ball forward, which Rice is good at compared to making piercing passes.

It’s not a given that every highly anticipated signing automatically works out. There’s plenty of examples out there. They all have to prove themselves to merit a start. Having said that I hope he is as good as advertised as that can only raise the team’s level.

Charles, love the show, my morning watch in the us every day! I think that regarding youth, more than one thing can be true at once. Arteta was not good at playing youth before, and while he has certainly improved in that regard (thank goodness) some/a lot of that has been forced by the injuries and departures. There is no Cedric or Elneny or others to give those minutes to now, and with all the injuries those are the next up. And of the second group behind Ethan and MLS, I don’t think Maldini or others would be playing over Ruell Walters etc if they were here, sometimes timing and opportunity really is everything, imagine if ESR was still here, those minutes would be his, it just never worked out that way while he was here really.

My piok for the starting 11 is Raya, Timber, Saliba, Calafiori, Rice, Partey Merino, Trossard, Saka, Havertz. Firstly, I think Timber is fit to play. Secondly, Merino is likely to make his first debut start after a cameo against PSG on Tuesday. Thirdly, I think he Mikel will start Trossard on the left flank and Havertz as our No.9. Preferably, I will not start Martinelli.

We are gonna have to disagree about Rice. Yes, vs Liverpool and City when we had less possession Rice is a useful defensive addition. But against teams offering mid and low block, like Fulham, Villa and West Ham Rice offers little on the ball. Vast majority of his passes are sideways or backwards We have to decide what the role of the 6 is in this team. Whatever you think that is it CANNOT be solely ball recovery and giving it sideways. and that is 90% od what Rice does

Yeah rice is not the better than Partey on the ball but most of those games where points where dropped last season were due to big Chances not being taken that's why everyone was crying out for a Forward and not a number 6 because nobody saw it as a real problem even when Partey wasn't fit

It's helpful of course but 100m for another defender seems too much. I see him stifling our profession as much as he stifles the opponent. When he gets it, he usually gives it to saliba or Gabriel. I want a MAESTRO that can win the ball and turn defence into attack in a flash. Rice is not that guy, never will be either

@@innercircle341 We've seen so many players evolve in this team and now doing things we never thought they could,who would've predicted Gabriel to be the player he is now a few seasons ago and Ben white being brilliant at fullback signed as a CB when people called him a 50m pound flop,Havertz is working out now when he was called a passenger before even Saliba has gotten better and not to mention Odegaard the amount of Responsibility he has on the pitch now to when he came here is lightyears apart,So im still optimistic because Rice hasnt played many games at 6 for us yet because of injuries and Players not being trusted by Arteta to play left 8,With more game time there who knows he might start getting more comfortable on the ball,But Hey maybe you are right,But we still don't lose or drop points because of Rice our attack is still the reason we lose or drop points they aren't clinical enough

To play a full match every 3 days is ridiculous credit the team but the manager has to rotate the team 1 game a week or two if you're in other competition.The players are not machines Havertz should bench he's been good but Jesus needs some mins and a goal.Partey needs a rest Jorginho some mins Sterling needs mins rotation is key to win the league our central defenders can't play every game and we expect the same good showing for them.International football nation league, world cup qualifiers and friendlies WTF Ben White was right more players need to do the same
