Sorry but this guy is speaking nonsense. And I think Charles wants to disagree with him. Partey is a better ball playing 6 than Rice(which is what Arteta probably prefers), Rice just has legs, takes waay too much time to see a forward pass. The only reason he’s probably not given a contract yet is because of the injuries.

The level of delusion in the analysis is too high in this one. What is wrong with this fanbase, hating on their own players. I find hate towards Partey and Martinelli in every youtube video. Martinelli is outperforming players that the fanbase wanted us to sign like Nico Williams. And Partey is class. Here are some of the things that guy Dave said that were wrong: 1) Rice didn't move to 8 when Partey came back last season, because he moved there in January. 2) It was Jorginho who played as a 6 for the majority of the games (second half of last season). 3) Even Jorginho did better at 6 than Rice. Now the problem with Rice isn't control of games, we controlled every game in the first half of last season when Rice played as a 6. The problem is that we were too flat in attack, incredibly flat to the extent that we didn't know were the goals were going to come from. It was only when Jorginho came in that our attack started to be fluid again. I love Rice, he's our best number 8 (because apart from a good 20 minutes versus Chelsea, I haven't seen anything from Merino to suggest he's a starter), just like Partey is our best number 6. Some fans are so b*tth*rt because Partey has been our best player this season. They want him to be out of the team to make way for their favorite player. Just watch objectively and support everyone.

As much as I love Gabby, I just wonder if in the end he will be just an excellent squad player, but not an on-going first-stringer. Hopefully I'm wrong here. Also, humbly submitted for Dave's volume 2 . . . Roses are red, Orchids are pink, I hope after the break that we don't stink

Dave's point of view of Rice being a No. 6 is the first time I've heard a fan actually say that. I've always said is a 6 and an 8. Don't know how any fan of football can say that Rice is an 8, he has certain qualities that can fit in that role but Rice is as good as Rodri or even better when he plays as a 6.

Hey Charles. There are some rumors that Arsenal are looking at Real Madrid's Arda Guler's situation and are considering loaning him similar to Odegaard transfer. I personally liked Guler as he had very similar passing techniques to Ozil. He does seem to struggle to gain game time at Madrid like Odeagaard did and if we can sign him on loan that could be a good piece of business in the winter.

Arteta already answered the Partey vs Rice question. He does it with his team selections. Everyone else is living in lala land. Rice is not better than Partey even at 6. Going around like a headless chicken doesnt mean better. Its the same reason Arteta had to bring in Jorginho to hold his hand in midfield after last December's string of appalling results. This is just English propaganda.

Charles and Dave with some great level-headed insights. I’m worried we win the league this season if we don’t get a goal scorer in January. We need someone to step up and support Havertz or Saka. Liverpool are thriving because their attack is performing. I’m hoping we at least win the league cup. If we don’t, it’ll be a huge blow to the team after coming so close the last two seasons. We need to bring home some silverware as an indicator of progress. Otherwise, it wont look like we have made progress

Pep signing a contract extension indicates that Man City are confident that they won’t get punished for the 115 breaches. The Partey Rice comparison is apt. Partey is great and if we were talking Partey of 5 years ago, I’m taking him over rice all day but Rice is a better 6 especially for the way the team plays now. I hope Arteta will make the transition starting this Saturday. Rice Ødegarrd Merino.

@youandme95692 сағат бұрын
The problem with Rice most fans doesn't seem to recognize is that he bugs the offense down. His lack of awareness to make simple forward passes that keep the offensive momentum going and maintain pressure stalls our attack. Rice doesn't need to be Odegaard or prime Pirlo, but a midfielder has to be able to make certain passes that aren't always obvious. It's not a knock on his abilities but for a technical team like Arsenal, he's not the engine that keeps the wheel turning if we need to score a goal. To maintain attacking impetus, midfielders need to be aware ahead of time where their next pass needs to go before they actually receive the ball. It's fine and all when you are playing for a team like West Ham that doesn't rely on skill way of attack and teams aren't sitting deep against. For Arsenal, the long processing time he needs to scan around before making a pass slows everything down. Not to mention Arteta's insistence on playing in a slow pace as opposed to what attacking wingers prefer which is using their quickness and ability to dribble past their man, it just compounds the problem.
@zandreclimax584 сағат бұрын
Martinelli has no problem using his left. Look back at how often he goes to the touch line and cross off his left. It's his approach that's the problem and the rarity of him cutting in on his right and shoot from a good angle.
@terryg45894 сағат бұрын
One the midfield, bit over simplified here, but Partey and Merino are similar players, get the ball move it on. Partey's fitness and contract, Merino works as his replacement. Rice is a very different player. If we face a team who will sit back and attack on the break, Rice and his ability to cover space makes him a good 6, and Merino ability in tight spaces makes him a good 8 further up the pitch. If we face a team who will press when we try to build up from the back, Merino's ability in tight spaces makes him a good 6, and Rice's ability to drive forward makes him a good choice as an 8.

Hey Charles. Both Sport and Fichajes in Spain are reporting that Arda Guler is a target for Arsenal in January. Personally I think this would be a wonderful deal at the right price for the club to do, especially if he's available on loan. He would be the perfect Vieira/ESR replacement that we should have gotten in the summer. I really hope it happens.

The way people hate on Partey is nuts. I did not catch the guests name but fuck me...Rice is NOT a better player than Partey. Not by a long shot. We are being conned by the English run around, give 100% and get all excited. Partey is press resistant. And I have yet to see Rice turn when receivjng the ball and play passes between the lines forward. Ever. A fit Partey is better any day for how we want to play at the moment. A couple years ago we were comparing him to Rodri!! Don't get me wrong, Rice is a great player, but our style of play with him at 6 is long term going to change how the entire midfield functions.
@alfredthegreat95434 сағат бұрын
Rice is a better player than Partey at this time. The Partey of 3 years ago was better than Rice now. And sorry but I see Partey losing players and allowing space for them that he didn't do before, plus he makes some pretty poor passes. Injuries and age have caught up with him that's all- he is too slow off the mark for the PL. Great player but his time has come. Hope he gets a big fat contract in Saudi and has a great retirement.

Partey is a better six than Rice. Period. Tell me if Rice can receive the ball from the keeper, turn with it, and distribute it seamlessly the way Partey does. A fully fit Partey is better than Rice. Even Arteta knows this, hence always picking Partey for the 6 role.

Hi Charles, What do you think Pep staying means for their upcoming verdict on the 115 charges? We're supposedly expecting the result around the new year and the timing seems just a little convenient for me. Pep will be privvy to the proceedings and I cant imagine him agreeing to stay if there was still a lot of uncertainty and if he wasn't assured that there wont be be any lasting effects for next season (i.e. relgation, transfer restrictions). Of course, in the world of Man City, maybe its just a case of money talks and they just offered Pep a blank check to stay through thick or thin
@oseisamuel534536 минут бұрын
Declan Rice has yet to convincingly demonstrate that he is an upgrade over Thomas Partey. I respectfully disagree with your guest, Charles. We've observed Rice playing as a holding midfielder (No. 6) for both Arsenal and England, but he falls short in delivering the same level of quality that Partey brings to the role. If Rice were truly that impressive in the position, he would be keeping Thomas Partey on the bench.

nahh nahh with all due respect my elder rice is not better and has never been better than partey he has age on his side but when we speak of ability and football brain and what they have both achieved in the game partey is well ahead of rice,hes been unfortunate with injuries im sure thats the only reason why he hasnt been offered a new deal.

Players kick a football every day. There is no excuse for players to be like Antony who has no right foot. You are too predictable. You are paid to be the best player you can be and to me, that involves training on your weaker foot and bringing it up to a level similar to your better foot. Not only pracitising but mentally is important. Clearly, I'm not a pro, but I always used my right foot in my school days and for a few years in my early thirties, I practiced on my left as much as my right and got to the point where I was not scared to play on my left. In games, it makes so much difference. And I'm not paid millions. Martinelli has to get better on his left, end of. We were blessed with seeing Carzola who was the perfect example of an ambipedal footballer.
