As a foreigner, I’m not an England national team fan and not particularly disappointed because the best team won and there were no refereeing controversies. But as an Arsenal fan, I’m just happy to see Kane continuing his record-breaking trophyless career in pure Spurs legend fashion. I don’t think any other player in activity has lost so many chances to raise silverware. I now wish he had signed for City 2 years ago… Banter aside, Southgate was sorely mistaken to rely on him so much because in a national squad these attention-grabbing figures may be detrimental to the balance of the team: even Portugal won their final when CR7 out and they miss out when he plays. And for a long time even Messi felt this curse and announced he’d stay out, but then he changed his style, serving his colleagues more, and they are now on a superb run. In a national team, the balance is more important than the individual… Just look at the teams who beat England in these last 2 finals. Anyway… Let’s hope Arsenal will back Arteta again now with some cash injection so we can trigger the release clauses for Olmo and Williams. They would be spectacular signings. And hopefully we can earn something from sales too. And maybe there will be some interesting players coming out of the Olympics as well. Let’s see. And as always, COYG!

Spain are the European Champions. Didn't expect them to win it at the start of the tournament but boy were they excellent. They won all 7 of their matches in this tournament & were the far better team in the final as well. Congratulations to Spain. Hard luck England.

Great as always Charles.... Well, it’s official-England’s recent match was a classic example of what happens when you put square pegs in round holes. It felt like we were watching a game of "Where's Waldo?" with players out of position all over the pitch. Gareth Southgate’s tactics seemed like they were plucked from a dusty football manual from the '90s, showing just how out of touch he is with the modern game. And while some folks were quick to take jabs at our Arsenal lads, let’s be real-none of them were in their natural positions, and they didn’t have reliable partners to link up with. The positioning of Foden and Jude was so baffling at times that it actually blunted the effectiveness of Saka and Rice. It’s a bit like having a Ferrari but deciding to drive it off-road. Spain, on the other hand, managed to clinch the win, albeit without playing particularly great. Funny enough, let’s not forget that Scotland managed to beat Spain - talk about football logic! Anyway, let’s shift our focus back to club football. Here’s hoping Arsenal can make some smart moves in the transfer market and finally topple those serial ch3@t$, sorry, winners from Manchester. Fingers crossed!

It really annoys me that the media don't ask him that question in interviews. He cost the Spuds a champions league carling cup and league title. Hey Charles, what do you think of the passing criticism Rice got? He was forced to play backwards alot by a class Spanish team but I dont think Kobbie Mainoo should have been anywhere near that pitch last night and no one mentions it. Its okay playing teenagers out the wing but the middle of the park is a different story and its not Mainoos fault but the game was too big for him and he was non existing inti. If Jude played the 6 with Rice the whole tournament and play an actual Winger or Trent on the Left wing. It would have worked better. Southgate could have played the team he wanted in the first game with just a little tweek instead of swapping Trent out. I just think the players where victims of the system and I don't think they should be criticized for it.

Disappointed about last night. I’m an Arsenal supporter first, because they are my local team. I always feel I’m a Londoner first, English 2nd. But I can’t lie, I’m disappointed by yesterday’s result. Always amazed at how many Johnny Foreigners follow our local team. I see it as more of a reflection of people values than serious reflection of how great our team is.

Condolences Charles on England's loss. Curious as an England and Arsenal fan, would you would have rather Jude not scored that last second goal and just been knocked out by Slovakia? Kane needs to be omitted from the next tournament. If Southgate does not get a new contract, any decent manager coming in would drop Kane and build a squad with all the amazing talented young players we have. Southgate likes his mix of experience and youth, but the experienced players are now past it, whilst many of the young players are now very experienced themselves at international level, they don't need the older players holding them back. We need to thank the old boys for what they have done over the years, and move on.

Dani Olmo would be a very good signing, but I think if he comes in then Trossard goes because he plays a lot of the same positions and Leo is nearly 30 now. Fabian Ruiz would be the dream signing for that no.8 role although I can't see PSG selling him

Hi Charles, Not pleased by the result, but the progress of the squad is interesting. Our need for a striker who scores against difficult opponents is a thing. The subs were massive. The real deal is the World cup. How much better we will look with White at rightback. We also need to get a leftback into the England squad, Tripier looks less comfortable there on the left. Solve those problems and we can mount a great challenge in the world cup. If Nico Williams comes to us we will win so much.We had poor balance last term, but with him and the left sided lad from italy.... sorted.

Tommy here, just wondering, as Raya & Ramsdale both made it to the Final if the Euros, so I would assume they will not take part in the preseason preparations, does that also mean they would most likely miss the start of the EPL season? I would assume as an outfield player, preseason is crucial - could we say it's the same for Goalkeepers though?

Hi Charles, this seems like a pivotal time in Martinelli's career, do you think that if he gets off to a slow start they may look to sell/loan him? He seems to be struggling for the confidence you see Yamal and Nico Williams play with for Brazil and Arsenal. With Trossard on his heels and a ripe market of LW's do you think we may try to make a record sale with him to a PSG, Barca or an Italian club? I think a loan would be good for his confidence he's still very young but I'm worried he is becoming a bit of a passenger and just enjoying being at Arsenal. Hey Charles. How do you see the possibility of Ethan Nwaneri(and possibly Lewis Skelly) being included in the pre-season tour to USA? Obviously many people are expecting Nwaneri to be included more in the first team this season. But, we saw many hypes around youth previously especially with Patino, who never made it to the USA tour or the other youth as well. Moreover, if Nwaneri does get included more often with the first team will he be deployed as a No.8 or a backup to Saka. My personal opinion is if we fail to sign either a winger or a No.8 Nwaneri will get a shot at least if he has been promised a clear pathway into the first team(but you can never expect anything when it comes to youth and Arteta)

Your so called golden generation went out at the group stages of the World Cup in 02 and never went past a QF in any competition.
