I was having a thought the other day and I thought I might share this with you and pose the question to you to analyse in your show. Let's talk Sven Mislintat. We know after the departure of the German, things in the recruitment area has been substantially weak. Mislintat in his first season at Arsenal, brought in a bunch of strong recruitments at the time in bringing; Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torriera, Pierre Emerick Aubamayang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Although the latter didn’t work out for the best, for what his stature was at the time Mkhitaryan’s reputation preceded him and my question is, can we really believe in Edu & Raul to pull off the same level of signings? Let’s give Edu the benefit of the doubt in that he brought in a gem in Gabrielle Martinelli as one of his recommendations, however for a club like Arsenal... this is simply not enough. Every transfer window we need to go in with a solid plan and be intentional with our signings. The summer of 2017 when Unai Emery came to lead the Arsenal. We were quick, efficient and intentional with the signings we were going to make. My question is, did we get rid of the wrong man in letting Sven Mislintat go because we are currently complaining about the exact problems he was addressing at the time which was recruitment? Was this yet ANOTHER example of Arsenal going for the cheaper option and realising by having an elite staff member like Sven Mislintat would require the resources of an elite club by backing their scouts with the right financial backing? Are we suffering the consequences of bad leadership from the top (Vinai & Don Raul’s seniors - the Kronke’s)?
