Matthew Norzan I don't really get why people hate durian. I live in Malaysia, and most of people I know love durian. Its very sweet, and some of the best batch got great smell. Currently I live in Tokyo, and to my surprise lots of my Japanese colleague love durian as much as I do.

Nabil Danial Completely not true. That's an old wives tale.. There is not scientific proof of this every happening. I love durian too but you need to eat it at exactly the right time. Too ripe and super mushy and smells nasty. If you eat it at the right temperature, *Cold) on a hot day when it's at the perfect ripeness more people would like it I think.

My first experience of Duran is when I moved here to Malaysia. I really didn't know what to expect but every local will ask you if you have tried it, so I thought 'I need to give this a go'. You can smell it far quicker than you can see it, in fact you can probably smell a couple of hundred metres away. But yeah I tried and it is actually quite nice. Has a soft, mushy but sticky texture and deep taste like Blue Cheese. When I tell Malaysians I like it, they are usually quite shocked.
