I cried at this episode. I’ve lost family too young to cancer too, I know how horrible it feels to be told someone has days or weeks left. Thank you so much for talking about it Beth, it’s unfortunately an experience many of us have had, and it makes me feel less alone knowing somebody who I look up to has gone through it and keeps me going. I know how hard it is to talk about, so genuinely thanks Beth. I know you will never see this, but I thought it was important to say how much I appreciate it.

Watching Beth in the practice squad game for the first time, while Viv is doing sprints on the sidelines is a crazy inspirational moment!! Love this doc!

This has been an outstanding series. The teamwork, the passion, the difficulty, all presented in a way that is respectful and inspirational. I came to Arsenal Women via the Dutch national team and their phenomenal run in the late teens. I've stayed an Arsenal fan because the team just seems so together and the talent is amazing.

Absolutely incredible work by Beth and Viv to put themselves out there when they're vulnerable to help the sport itself. Thank you for showing this journey in its entirety. You are both incredible people

Hearing what you went through reminds me of what happened when I ruptured my ACL (back in 2006). Unfortunately, there are similarities. We found out my mum had ovarian cancer in July 2005. Four months later, she passed on. Those four months were physically and emotionally draining. And even after she'd passed on, I never really had the time or space to deal with the emotional side of losing my mum. Then came that Saturday afternoon in March 2006 (I didn't sleep well the night before) when the knee of my standing foot bent sideways when I kicked the ball and I heard that "pop". I was impatient. I wanted surgery ASAP cos I wanted to recover ASAP. But my surgeon said recovery would be better if we delayed surgery till the swelling was down and I'd regained full range of motion. So it was a couple of months of physiotherapy before I finally had the op in June. I felt like everything was moving too slowly. But it was exactly what I needed then. It gave me time and space to finally deal with the emotions of losing my mum. Then the hard work began. It took another six months before I could play again.

It must've been extremely difficult for Beth Mead to deal with her mom's passing away. I also have a teammate who lost her mother early this year to cancer and I could see how difficult it must've been for her. It must've been difficult for her to open about it but I'd like to thank her for speaking about it and letting us rethink about how important it is to cherish every moment with your loved ones.
