Credit to Xhaka that 2 seasons on, we're still struggling to figure out the puzzle of replacing him.

? How many midfielders is a hit immediately. People cried out for Ciacedo, Lavia who struggled. Also the left sided has changed many times so no consistency and on average the system is setup to have 20% less then the right side. The right side usually attacks with 4 players the left 1 or 2.

I know this is on the back burner, but we really need to consider extending Partey. We have to buy at least 2 attackers which won't be cheap (at least 100-120 mil). Keeping him protects our floor. To replace Partey with someone of similar quality would be at least 50 million, likely more than that. If we go the young cheap route we are risking a lot (don't want another Sambi). His profile is SO unique I'm not sure he's replaceable at the moment given what else we need to do in the market. Great Pod!

For Partey this season was about him proving his fitness his ability has never been in question. So far he has looked in good shape so if that continues he will surely extend. We will handle his situation similar to we have done with Jorginho over the yrs.
@zTom_
@zTom_ 27 күн бұрын
I'd definitely offer him a 1y contract extension (1+1 option tops like with Jorginho, as you don't offer a contract for what you've done but for what you will be able to do) but it's certainly not in his interest not to go get a longer much lucrative contract in the Saudi League for example... 🤷🏻‍♂️
@luvhenry
@luvhenry 27 күн бұрын
That wage is still something to consider... If he takes a paycut then I think we should give him the same contract as jorginho one plus a one year option. If we go after some like zubimendi or Adam wharton then psr could dictate it compared to Mikel or the board or whoever our sporting director is.

Let's wait until the end of the season. Has he used his 9 injury cat lives or did he look in a broken mirror before. Rice also cost 105 million (someone offers that take it) and isn't elite 8. He kills us going forward as 6 but presume Timber and calafiori are part of plan to adapt to Tice deficiencies

That kind of center forward play from Jesus was almost how I imagined it would be with the arrival of Havertz. That he'd be more focus in finishing, be more of an end product kind of forward. Long may it continue. Hopefully, he's the kind of players that peak late in their career, like Jamie Vardy.

Got to disagree with the no press thing. Thought they did press us in our half which we dealt with really well. Frank even said his team did it well in his presser after. This was not a low block boys, we just didn’t let them out of their half so it felt like it.
@moal-shael7580

you could say that with Everton and Fulham, we never let them out, which basically makes them comfortable with employing a low block. Brentford did do in spells

Without Timber available against Brighton I’d play Partey @ RB and Martinelli @ RW to track back and help with Mitoma. Trossard is fresh and plays well against Brighton so he can play LW.

Without Rice isn't a problem when we want to score goals. We have been really lucky with Parteys fitness. Brentford now haven't won in 5? Good time with their injuries and form. Good win in the end. I was fine with lineup and didn't know about illness

Skelly and Nwaneri mentality - personality looks great. Can't be over playing them but maybe Saka at 8 Nwaneri in his place when Odeegard out might have worked in some games. Tim keeps saying Saka can play anywhere. Rice sending off sort of started the shit but it came from us playing without conviction and clarity. Horrible decision by a total wanker, but we have made most of our own "bad luck" this season. Liverpool drop 4 points and we do too sort of sums up our mentality. I fear if Liverpool do falter and er catch them with 2 to play we will fuk it up again tbh, but lets hope Man U do one on them. Unlikely but that would be the sweetest Man U victory ❤ even if it got them up to 13th 😂

Wow. That is his first start which I was really pleased to see (dont kill him though way Daka has been abused) Your going a bit early 😂. Yamal done a bit more to take that crown and sure others out there. I really like him and Skelly but what is this psychological condition folk have to jump in with best, world class better than before a second breath. Just enjoy the kid and hope he progresses. Ferguson at Brighton was the best young striker since sliced bread. Odeegard was indeed the best young talent in the world and took 5 years to get there.

Gotta chill on Ethan. He’s not changing our season. For all the great things we saw, there was still a bit too much hiding at times and delay in movement - which is to be expected - takes huge balls to do what he’s doing at 17
@virupakshawalla5734
@virupakshawalla5734 27 күн бұрын
If you get decent shots off and good crosses and have folk in the box at it then rebounds deflections etc are not luck they are probabilities. But don't shoot when obviously bl9cked close range or throw in shit nothing crosses. Quality still counts. You need to take risk of more folk in there though.

I saw Saka get injured, then saw headlines of being out for months, then saw a post confirming surgery. All over Christmas so it was hard to keep up with. Does anyone know medically why he required surgery and what the outcomes could potentially be career wise? Nwanieri absolutely looks the part though.
@KarltonFranz
@KarltonFranz 27 күн бұрын
Torn hamstrings which require surgery to repair it. He will be out for at least 8 weeks. Hamstring injuries sadly have high recurrence rates so he will need looked after. Who knows how he will look when he returns
@luvhenry
@luvhenry 27 күн бұрын
I believe he tore his hamstring.... I don't think you can heal that without surgery because it will affect every other area like the calf and knee etc if it's not healed through surgery and a really good rehab. We cannot rush b back and allow him to relapse the hamstring has to be the most valuable asset for a winger like b. Coyg!
@gladiatorscoops4907
@gladiatorscoops4907 27 күн бұрын
As someone who has had his fair share of hammy injuries he is probably done for this season. Even if he gets back this season he wont be at the same level in terms of explosiveness and accelerating like he was before the injury. It's a grade 3 tear, Surgery is pretty straightforward but the wait for the muscle to heal properly, then be able to put high load into that muscle without any issues takes a lot of time.
@ToddParker
@ToddParker 27 күн бұрын
@@gladiatorscoops4907 Thanks, I hadn't known it was a grade 3 tear. I played and then coached for a living so I have dealt with hamstring injuries on both sides for years. I know exactly what you are saying. Big loss, but we need to push on and find solutions.

Serious question, what does Declan Rice excel at? For instance, what he isnt good at is clear but that is always caveated with the "hes one of the best midfielders in the world" line. Hes clearly a solid player but think he is massively over rated. Hes not a world class 6 or 8 so why did he cost so much.

We are best team in 24 but you don't have to hold your water in for a run in in that stat. We are good er are boring but we are weak mentality wise until proven otherwise as we have failed 4 seasons in a row when challenged. That has come from Arteta for me. But start again. Next time we need to take that as a challenge, get angry (controlled) not nervous and show we have the metal. I hope Arteta has matured his pop psychology to a more adult version.

@@zTom_ to win first and foremost you need quality players and brave coach who does not fear losing.. our defence and gk can't play out from the back when other teams press hard. for a "world class defence", they hoof it to kai far too often. midfield is just mediocre without partey it lacks guile visiono or creativity. and the attack just looks completely bereft of x factor.. there is a reason why we lose most of the time in game where something is on the line against proper team. this team is the replica of pochetino's spuds
