These various art references strike me as metaphors for the many memories remaining after a relationship has ended. Such as, people once pressed flowers between the pages of books as reminders of the happy times associated with the flowers. The cold lips of marble sculptures might represent the the diminishing warmth of the couple's kisses as the relationship "fizzles into poetry." Indeed, sad poems have been inspired by such circumstances. In the way art produced becomes the artist's legacy after (s)he is gone, these images are the legacy of the dead relationship.
