Hello everyone and welcome to a fun art haul video! I actually prefilmed this before my surgery and then forgot to schedule it! So I keep saying this is the April art haul, when in reality, it is June now! Oh well! I had meant to use these during recovery after my surgery, but as you probably know, it was harder than expected, so I am using them now! I suppose it's fitting this is going up now, when I am actually using the products! So grab your self something good to drink, get cozy, and lets look at all my fun new art supplies!

Nice video, with some interesting items that will undoubtedly be getting put to good use as your post-operative recovery continues. Hope the recent flare-up of the Crohns that you mentioned in your community post starts to ease for you pretty soon so you can get the brushes, markers etc etc, going again. Kind regards, Brian.

I do have some, but it clogged one of my fountain pens and I find it's not always waterproof. It seems like on all my hot press watercolor paper there is always some bleeding, which muddies that paint a little! But no one else seems to have that problem so I don't know. It does it on all the different brands of paper I use, even if I let it dry for over 24 hours before I paint!

Meh, I’ve used Platinum Carbon Black in my Lamys, Pilots and other Schneider fountain pens for the last 2.5 years with no worries (after researching religiously on forums and Reddit and YT for 3 months trying to see if it was ok and hearing everyone express horror that anyone would… or passing on that scaremongering warning while never even testing themselves)…. Then I just decided to stop being scared and just try it, it’s just a pen and I’d already missed out on having a good waterproof pen for months… and what do you know? The world didn’t end…and my pens worked! I sometimes go months without using them too, cos… I’m not really a talented or motivated drawer sometimes… but the pens are still perfectly fine (maybe one has a hard start but not for long)….. I’ve never cleaned them in those 2.5 years (but have refilled two of them by emptying the converter and refilling)….and they’ve still never clogged or don’t flow… but hey, if you are scared, clean them every week then! Dont be scared to use the good waterproof stuff (i also use Da Atramentis Document Black in 2 pens too). I think it’s just the FP purists who are scared …tho I mean, I probably wouldn’t use it in my special $1000+ vintage pen either (but I also would never spend that much on a pen neither!)…..but for your cheaper pens wanted for urban/sketching, it’s fine …I mean, they ARE only pens and can be cleaned/replaced easily… and it’s worth getting to use the good waterproof stuff for sketching! Buy a cheap Platinum Preppy if you truly are scared and fill the cartridge with PCB… you’re only out $6 then… but seriously, don’t be scared of waterproof ink in a FP!

I couldn't agree more. For me, it's nearly impossible to find a permanent fountain ink nearby that is also affordable. It's really an enjoyable experience to use waterproof ink and watercolour for sketching😌

I did have a pen with waterproof ink in it that was supposed to be fountain pen safe in it get ruined so I've been scared but there are so many nicer cheaper options of pen out there now I should totally just try it again. You ate right!

@@winterwoodsstudio Yes, and there are soooo many great FP pens that are also cheap nowadays… or there’s always dip pens/glass pens as well! And I forgot to add that most of my fave big urban sketchers/talented ink artists I follow also use waterproof ink in their Lamy’s and other pens now, like Liz Smith, Teoh Yi Chie, TobySketchLoose, Sketching Scottie, Leslie Stronz, Doug Jackson, Peter Draws, Taria, Kamulch, Liz Chaderon, Karen Johnson, koosje koene, Jess Karp, Roisin Cure, etc… to name a few off the top of my head…. Seems we’ve all gotten over our fear! Join us, lol 😂😂😂

I have the platinum carbon black and everyone keeps saying it's waterproof, but every time I've tested it, there has been some bleeding, so I don't know! I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe a defective bottle of ink? I've tried it on multiple papers now. I haven't tried any of the document inks from Deatramentis though. Maybe i should! Thanks for the recomendation!

Hi Amy, When you feel up to it, can you tell us the difference between the Copic Multiliners in Black vs the Micron pens? I sometimes get frustrated with the Microns because the tip is sort of flat on the top, if that makes sense. I'm so sorry for all you've been through since November and I pray you and your family will be well soon.

@cazkiwinz4300 13 күн бұрын
Maybe you could try a dip/glass pen or fountain pen if you don’t like the nibs on fineliners/microns… plus, they’re fun to use… and a new hobby all in itself 😂

@@cazkiwinz4300 Thanks so much for the suggestion! ☺️
@winterwoodsstudio

Most fine liners seem to have a flat tip. I try to use the sides and it wear it down pretty quick. in fact, I almost always wear the nib away before I use up all the ink. The copic multiline tips are softer than the pigma microns and have a tendency to bend. They work well with alcohol markers though. I haven't tried them with watercolor so I'm not sure if they are waterproof, although I believe they are sold as waterproof. I often use a dip pen and ink, although I tend to use a metal nib pen, when I want perfect lines. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

I am using your link to order it. Thanks for showing it! Books are NOT a part of my no-buy. This will be the 3rd Smithsonian book I'll have and they are all so well done and for such reasonable prices. I love the other 2 and I am sure this will be no different. Great video, but you said something that made my hair stand straight up. Copics with cracked caps. I was starting to think I was the only one experiencing this over the past year or so. I've had about a dozen of my relatively new copic sketch markers go dry on me for no particular reason. Eventually I had the idea to hold a cap to a bright light and low and behold I could see the light coming through the cap on every one of the markers that had dried up and more that were about to. Why isn't everyone talking about this??? Or maybe they are and I've just missed it??? If thats the case, could someone please refer me to more info?? Is Copic coming clean about the mistake?

Thanks for watching!

Given the popularity (and price) of Copic markers, I'm shocked more people aren't talking about this. Unless of course, I missed the boat and its old news which it sounds like may be the case.
