Excited to see you trying the Lightfast pencils, they are my fave type of coloured pencils! (Especially the Foliage and Racing Green colours) Would like to see you attempt a still life with fruit perhaps. :)

I Love the shimmery paint brand!- I can't spell it for the life of me 😅😅 I got their vivid and chameleon dot cards and they are breathtaking 😩💖 and I used them for a couple of painting s now, I use them to final touches for my portrait paintings. And I only made a tiny hole inside the dots I can tell each dot can last me at least four paintings! So definitely recommend for anyone to try their dot cards to explore their color range.

I would love a set of those light fast pencils, but really don't need anymore pencils, I'm drowning in pencils😛 any kind of bird would work well with them

Those illluiiie (ok I k now the spelling is wrong) are so pretty and those dots are huge! They're like pans. But I"m on a ban so I will put them on my April 2024 "it's ok to buy art supplies now" list. Thanks for sharing your haul!

There are many tutorials on YT for the alcohol inks, but the best tip is to wear a respirator. Since you have to dilute them with alcohol, the fumes are dangerous. My friend got really sick and so did her cat, even though she used them with a fan and open window. Please be careful.

You can’t use alcohol inks in your sketchbook, you need a very slick surface, Yupo paper is one, there are others too,almost like “plastic paper”, Nara paper is another. Then you have to dilute them with alcohol at least 91%. Usually use a blow dryer to push them around,it’s a technique you need to learn. Also you have to be careful not to inhale it, you have to use them with open windows. There are many YT video tutorials.

Alcohol inks are best used on yupo paper . It’s a sort of slick surface and they are amazing on it . Use alcohol along side them to spread out the inks and there are all sorts of tutorials on yT for them. People use different tools to blow the inks out and they create beautiful ethereal looks . On normal paper they just soak in well at least in my experience 😊

The alcohol inks will work best on non-porous surfaces (yupo or other synthetic papers, glazed ceramic tiles, etc.) and use 91%-99% isopropyl alcohol, blending solution or grain alcohol to move them. Work in a well-ventilated area and keep away from children and pets. They are a lot of fun!
