Hey Karissa. As Ukrainian myself I am so glad you enjoyed Viy. The movie was based on a book written by Russian/Ukrainian writer Gogol. He has a lot of witchy/mystic stories and, actually, his death is very mysterious as well. Absolutely love your "Art I've Consumed" videos. Can't wait for the next one to bookmark more books/songs

everytime I watch these videos from you I think about how much you would LOVE jenni fagan. she’s a Scottish gothic author, all her books have tales of witchery and feminism . Although it touches on a lot of Scottish culture and dialect there is certainly a “universe in the specifics” there and I think you’d LOVE her!! my recs would be luckenbooth and hex

SLEWFOOT!!!! i adore adore adore this book. i screamed when you pulled it out. i finished it in 3 days and absolutely could not put it down. i would love to have Abithas fate and im so gld you recommend it to all of us. its such an underrated read

i read slewfoot last year and loved it so much!! the vibe is unmatched. also i would highly recommend the 2011 version of wuthering heights - it is never talked about but it's so beautiful and abstract.

I loved this vlog sooooo muchhhhhhh dear Karissa, also i would recommend you The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt soundtracks. It's actually a Polish playstation game but the soundtracks are immaculate honestly and they have this great sense of witchy vibe to them

Hello, Karissa. If you read this, I just wanted to tell you that I was very excited to hear you watched Pan's Labyrinth and to tell my story with it if anyone may be interested. As a Spanish person, I knew about this film during many of my growing years though I wasn't allowed to watch it due to the historical atrocities that it features. I spent a long time waiting until the novelisation came out, when I was around twelve. Then I read it and I watched the film afterwards. I LOVED IT, both the film and the book are poignant. I would recommend you to read the book, which makes justice to the film and has beautiful illustrations. There are also short stories/fairy tales inserted inbetween the story, which I think you could love. Thank you!

I also wanted to share my guess on why she ate that grape. It could represent the desires of the children of that period, in relation to their situation during the Spanish Civil War and specially the penury that came afterwards. I think it also echoes the myth of Persephone. Thank you so much if you read this.

Hey Karissa I was just thinking how I think you would enjoy the book 'A study in drowning' by Ava Reid a lot. It's dark and includes folktale I think? I don't remember exactly but it was very magical with like a girl who remembers a mysterious man from her childhood and she is unsure of whether he is good or not. I honestly can't stop thinking of it like it was beautiful and I need to reread it cause it has been a while.
