I would love to experience this film some day. The images and pacing remind me of Akerman's earlier New York production, 'News from home' (1977), one of my favorite films from the Seventies. I appreciate Mr. Ayd's appeal here for mutual empathy across socioeconomic and political lines, but America remains so divided (I type this in 2023) because one faction of the citizenry (the MAGA followers of Trump and their Republican enablers in governmental office) refuses to honor truth and reality. How can one even have a reasonable discussion with someone who won't even agree with you on the basic facts? These people are American fascists, and while their humanity should always be recognized and honored, their views and goals are simply contemptible, and should be resisted as much as possible.
