Hi Vicky! This is a lovely layout - the left layered border is as lovely as the right side couple/guitar and I like that you had the guitar go off the edge since it was such a large element - now it seem more like a border strip rather than a focal point. Wonderful…. And… I love the PASSION quote. I’ve been using both sizes of your mixed-media journals but haven’t started either of the stone-paper journals yet so it’s time to get over the intimidation of that first blank page! The larger, 2-page spreads are always inspiring. The background elements may mimic the mini art journal, but the larger size and greater space leads to a different, less dense, composition. 👍

I love it. What is “volume paste”? How does it compare to embossing paste or texture paste?

They are all modeling pastes, they add texture. They do have some differences on how they react with other mediums, flexibility, drying time and if they resist paint etc but really use what you have. ❤ The way I used it just plainly over the stencil anything goes.

Hi Vicky, I'm starting to do art journaling with my two Granddaughters and we're are having a great time, including bonding. We have been collecting lots of elements and now we want to make our book. Can you reccommend a good page size/ format that we should use? Thank you for your great presentations. They are so inspiring. We've looked at about 1/3 of them so far.

Hi Eric, what a great way to play together! I would suggest to get a book that isn’t too big so that you can all complete a project in one go. Sometimes having big white pages to cover makes it very intimidating to start with. Start with a book that is about half the letter size…. like 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 so when you open it it is a full letter size… or an A5 as we call them in europe.

the thicker the better so that paint does not bleed at the back and that water does not turn the page wavy. In the art journal I designed for stamperia I went with 300 gsm
