I remember when this game dropped at my local arcade when it was released and I couldn't believe my eyes. I was blown away. It literally made me save up my minimun wage job's earnings for weeks to finally get a NeoGeo console and this game.

I dominated the Arcade at AOF. There's a female challenger who squandered lots of coins losing to me repeatedly. She's a good player. But she was so mad that she couldn't beat me no matter how. Lol 😂

So they actually made an hour long documentary showing every single move and player reference trees and printed it on a laser disc?! Damn! That's some dedication

@@alxxz It was really popular in the 90s. There was no internet and this was the best way to learn the game without wasting credits in the arcade/Game Center.

@@OutdatedReferences OK fair enough, though it sounds more like a rich-man's resource to me, how many even had laser discs back in the day and it would probably cost more than actually paying quarters at the arcades to learn the game by trial and error! :D LoL! I only knew this rich girl from school that her father had one of these beasts and we used to watch G.I.Joe on laser discs! Good times indeed!

@@OutdatedReferences I have the VHS version of AOF2's guide. I've wanted a good transfer of it for years... so I guess I need to start looking for it. I'm probably the only guy who's used Ryo Sakazaki since the very beginning of the series. He's still my main in KOF to this day.

it's amazing that this documentary shows every glitch and hidden whiff moves. Even showing "slow" fireballs. I used to send 7 haow-kens on the training stage, like doing the 6th haow-ken "slow" and do it one more before it hits the wood plank. Amazing!

This game was so cool and cinematic back in the day. I know it got a lot of ribbing from Capcom fans, and Street Fighter II was my favorite game too. but Neo Geo games just "felt different". The graphics, colors, sprites were so much more large and detailed and they all had that special SNK magic. Each Neo Geo game was an artistic endeavor unique unto itself and they truly did feel like works of art.

I don't think Ryo Sakazaki is JCVD. I think he is Joe Lewis. Robert Garcia is a combination of JCVD and Seagal. If you look at the Sega Genesis cover for this game he was drawn to look like JCVD. In fact, that's why Capcom, when they made the joke character Dan Hibiki on Street Fighter Alpha to poke fun at Art of Fighting's Ryo and Robert, they gave him a pink Karate gi, which is reminiscent to JCVD's pink Karate gi he wore in the beginning of Double Impact movie when he was doing splits in front of all his female students at his studio. And when he later met his twin in that movie, pretty sure the twin had his hair slicked back like Robert. Coincidentally, the cover art for this laserdisc has Robert Garcia decked out in a snazzy all white suit....very reminiscent of what JCVD wore in the movie No Retreat No Surrender, his debut film in fact

@@AirLancer very well possible they took inspiration from Seagal, Thomas from Karate Kid III, AND Jean Claude Van Damme from No Retreat No Surrender for Robert Garcia.
