2024 I’m still listening to this monthly, to be reminded of “retail therapy”, “leaking money hose” and other topics. Stay strong guys, especially with families using the wrong word by calling you cheap. Instead of wise!

I love MMM and AoM... Solid practical advice. I recently cleared my mortgage after 4 years of buying my home. I upped my savings to 85% of my salary and other than 6 months of my contingency savings used everything else to pay mortgage off. Now have started investing in mutual funds. I am from India. Hence used to frugal lifestyle.

GREAT INTERVIEW!! Love this!!! No TV! Way to go! TV never produces good relationships.

I'm a longtime fan of his Blog, and I'll reread some episodes that relate to a particular battle or mistake that I need to correct--and not many have the ability to memorize large sections of text--me too--hence the repetition of viewing. It was good to hear one of his interviews. My budget tends to go real well for about two weeks to a month, and then it's time to go back to FREE school for some ideas and motivation. Highly recommended.

I largely agree with him, but two software engineers would make $200k a year and only have to pay for one house. Also it's a bit ironic to say everyone should invest and not spend

@@goankmahdi2022 , I'm in my forties and still working. Coming to this FIRE concept late. Looked back at all the money I've wasted over the years. I can see how fire can be obtained with ten years of working with the right lifestyle. Just gotta get my wife on board with it. Best of luck mate. Cheers.

Here's the problem with FIRE. 90% of FIRE peeps are all about quitting their jobs. Why grind for ten years to quit your job? You will simply start a new line of work you enjoy. It is wiser to do the work you prefer all along.

Rilly Jo Doesn’t matter. His strategy is based on percentage of income saved, not total income. If we make less, MIGHT take longer but depends on lifestyle choices. Can be done regardless.

I wish :(. Like Stevie is saying, it doesn't matter too much - it's about minimizing spending.

Maybe, if you can convince some hiring manager to hire you in the first place. It's really hard to get hired in the computer fields. Hiring managers don't want to train anyone, so they only hire someone who has 'x' number of years of the exact experience and the exact skills to do the exact job that they're hiring for, so you can jump right in a start doing the job. But getting that experience and skills in the first place is next to impossible, at least for a schmuck like me. Having the right degree is definitely not enough. (rant over)

Not to sound negative, but I don’t get why women always make jewelry when they have a chance to do something they want? Is it really that fun of a thing to do?
@twoscoops41813 жыл бұрын
Yes, some women genuinely enjoy it

I am a women and hate jewellery, but my mom loves it, she didn't have enough growing up and I had almost anything needed as I was a only child. We are all different,she gave me her jewellery and I would have loved if she gave me ETF instead. But I am doing ETF to pass on to my daughter to loves jewelleries.....its a circle.
