When it comes to mechanical adjusters on lanyards the ART Positioner 2 has become the tree climber's first choice. The Positioner grabs the rope as soon as it comes under load. Contrary to conventionally used rope clamps the Positioner allows a reliable one-handed adjustment even under load. The ergonomically formed release lever offers comfortable handling. Available with a standard eye or swivel eye.

I have found this tool irreplaceable for a long while. Strong and smooth and easy to use....it becomes like an extension of your body - very natural.

At first, I couldn’t believe I was going to spend that much on a positioner. I now have 2.

I was hesitant at first when I bought my positioner because of the price. But after the first use in the a tree you forget all about it's price and say why didn't I get one sooner. It's amazing. I have a bad right shoulder, and that's my preferred side to tend a lanyard with, the positioner has saved some ware n tare for sure.

Anything operable one handed I'm concerned you could bump it with something while working and give a scare or worse??

James Farnham the ART is a learning curve because it’s so smooth, but I got used to it and absolutely love mine, won’t hardly use my other grabs. I haven’t had any trouble with bumping it accidentally, the other nice thing is it’s rated for a secondary srt ascender, so I have used mine 2 or three times clipped to my bridge as a second tie in point to descend or ascend on, which should be standard IMO. I like stuff being rated above and beyond what i need or want, your life is hanging by it after all

To circumvent this potential issue, use a 1/2" Dyneema sling, girth-hitched to the hole. It cannot be considered a "modification", as it is part of the lanyard apparatus itself, as opposed to part of the mechanism. In any case, I always go metal-to-textile-to-metal, and vise versa.

i really want you to get a McDermott rope brake, they mount in the canopy of the tree so you or the groundsman can lower limbs

@Human Is there a risk of the friction gate being bumped whilst under load, releasing it?
@Human1337
@Human1337 6 жыл бұрын
Risk involved in anything, haven't heard about it being an issue, and many people use this. Don't really have any experience climbing with it yet, so can't really say one way or another about my personal use. Will be playing it cautiously until I get more climb time with it though.

Hi. I find the Positioner's lack of friction a minus point, as when you release it under load you can lose control and shoot backwards, which is a bit disconcerting. It sounds from other comments that you can get use to it. I prefer Tri tec with a Shizl and VT. Keep safe.

With a firm grip on the rope while using you index finger like a trigger you can control this with precision.

What would you say is the best way to get in this career field with minimal experience other than felling some trees in my yard and friends yards?
@rafaelcardenas1202
@rafaelcardenas1202 5 жыл бұрын
tadd benoit you should start by working for a local tree company. You will start from the bottom. You gonna learn everything about ropes, knots, pulleys, chainsaw, chipper, bucket trucks, etc and of course the most important one safety. That's the best way. That's how I did it and I love it.

Samuel Luria why not? They seem similar. Do you mean that they're just not in the same league?
@samuelluria4744
@samuelluria4744 6 жыл бұрын
Right. I didn't mean they don't compare in a categorical sense, that's true. I should have been more specific. I just find that from an ergonomics/ease of use standpoint, the ART (with the swivel, of course!) is unparalleled. The only thing about it is that the wire-core compatible version (different clutch) will wear out quicker than we would like... but still worth it, in my opinion. Anyway, yeah - the smoothness is key.

Hey Man, I'm sorry...it's YOUR video, Lol, you can call it whatever the hell you want😂😂😂. I thought about this thread in my 7 trees today...one thing I can tell you, is that if you happen to find yourself using a wire-core lanyard that has a nice cut on it, and there is some nice raw cable sticking out, this mechanism can be wiggled past the boo-boo a bit easier than a prusik....
