Glad to see this on youtube, Art. I took Mike Seeger's class at Augusta Heritage Workshop and he taught us ten tunes in ten tunings. A wonderful week! From your old friend, whom you introduced to Guy Bruce and Howard Finster....Stan GIlliam.

Sir, you are a blessing to us new banjo players just learning. I have learned the saying, a guy said, it's your banjo, you play it the way you want to play it.. LOL LOL

I've had Art's books for years... I can't tell you how many times I've listened to an old-time banjo player, and made some observation about the playing that felt revelatory to me... some nuance of the playing, and then happened to look in one of his books and Art had published that same observation, plain as day, years and years ago... he's a real treasure!

Thanks Art, I've been pickin banjer for about 7 years. Clawhammer is the style I use but I've always wondered about how to play old time variations of styles and tunings and of all the videos I've watched I enjoyed yours the most. Joe Bussard, a record collector frim Frederick MD introduced me to old time banjo artists on records he played for me from his collection. Hearing music by Wade Ward, Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Clarence Ashley, Dock Boggs and many others inspired me to pick up one and learn a bit myself. The only tunings I've learned are double d and standard g but I am keen to learn more.
