You are soooo gifted and amazing and loved by all of us who appreciate your genius and interpretations of Mr. Tatum that 99.9999% of the rest of us could not have figured out if our lives depended on it! You are the High Guru of the craft! Endless blessings upon you! Laurin

God bless all you do in your teaching.. Jazz is so complicated to me.. I know how many years it takes to be accomplished and God has to give you the talent. I have played on and off for 60 years and cant do anything like you do.. I truly appreciate your teaching and although I will never have the fingering that I did when I was young, I still so enjoy your playing.. Tatum was the Master and Oscar Peterson.. and Many others too.

Wow. I can't tell you how much of a blessing it is to get walkthroughs and tutorials-from a person who also happens to be a Christian and displays that love in his lessons. It's refreshing to learn from you. Thank you.

@JazzKeyboardist1 Thanks, One other person told me there was a Tatum book out there.Believe it or not Joe Lester showed me about half of these runs more that 35 years ago.The other half I picked up through years of transcription work.However i have only learned a fraction of what he did,and your right-only for fun.

Chopin based his Prelude Op.28 #10 in C sharp minor on that run (at 3:44). He uses a slight variation in which he also adds the 5th finger.

How about a lesson on Left hand ascending and descending runs/arpeggios ?
@rkjp5611 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would come down with the D-13th run:c,b,f#,e,c,b,f#,e, up to g#,f,g,f,(turn)than go down d-#,b,g#,f, than up to d and go down with the pentatonic run---c,g,e,d,c,a,g,e You can use all 16th notes--2 beats per chord.Start on c-7th octave. Good Luck!

I meant "terrifying" in a good way. I'm 43, I've been playing guitar most of those years, my influences are Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth and Frank Gambale. All of that time spent with the Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns did not prepare me for your videos. I would be very nervous if you asked to sit in on Stella or Have You Met Miss Jones!
